I have two words SELL IT! or AIR RIFLE!
My STI wagon was pushed away from outside my house at 8:30pm on a saturday night by a stolen granada while 3 kids where holding my front door closed!!
I got it back within an hour thanks to the Tracker.
Now i have a big dog ,an air rifle and a Range Rover

Thanks to everyone else for your concerns etc. These guys were just lucky to catch us off guard. Its so unbelievable that they picked "the right moment". I swear, we should get rid of all the police, train them in law for a year and hire them as Judges, patrolling the street and handing out sentences. No criminal would dare go up against Judge Dredd..

If the courts dished out meaningful sentences then it would deter this sort of thing. Softy Blair- not doing enough. Build more prisons, don't cut porridge. Remember this when the next General Election comes round...

You could try buying a wheel clamp and using it when parked outside your house as a visual deterant. Just keep the keys away from your car keys.
I live in brum, so it makes you nerveous.
Already got a disklok , tracker , and alarm.
Need a shotgun and do us all a favour !

My mate has a Peugeot 406 SRi Turbo. His has a key-pad immobiliser as standard. Good idea.
Its about time GPS-based systems stepped up a beat and sorted a system where you could report the vehicle stolen, then a signal would be sent to cut the ignition then pin-point the vehicle for police to find.

AS for selling it because they broke in to my house.....like hell would I...I would let some litle **** put me off what I had work hard to get.

On his way to work early one morning, a colleague was threatened with a blade whilst buying a newspaper. His car was later recovered having been used for another even more serious crime. These and other similar stories are my own personal ones. All happened around ten years ago.
What has accelerated the problem recently is the more effective use of advanced car alarms and immobilisers. Prior to this, MOST cars were relatively easy to steal quickly. That is no longer the case so those who want your car for whatever reason have to use more effective methods. This is where the real threat lies for us all now. Had these "less important" crimes been effectively nipped in the bud all those years ago, that would have sent out a very effective signal to those criminals who now specialise in this kind of thing. Had corrective action been taken back then, there is every chance the situation would not be as serious as it now is today.
The thing that really worries me about things in recent years is that those agencies good honest citizens once turned to for help or guidance have become unhelpful, certainly parasitical and even harmful on those same honest folk. Parasitical in the sense that we all heavily pay for them with huge indirect taxation but have precious little to show in return when we need that help.
I'll close with a pointer of advice about Motor Insurance. Policies have really evolved in recent years and the term Comprehensive is even more misleading than it was say only 10 years ago. DO PLEASE READ ALL THAT SMALL PRINT. Yes I know there's lots but pay particular attention about the safekeeping of keys and remote alarm fobs. That small print can and often does make a big difference when you need the protection of the Insurance Companies around you.

Wow, you're a very lucky men that the gansters don't harm you, here in Belgium it happens all the time but the police and media is covering it up : they can't catch the homejackers and thats bad press for the people.
I have a Viasat system in my car, it responds on alarm by pushing a panic button or disconnect a part from the car that you normally don't do, It also recognizes if the regular alarm is going off or if the car is towed away or jacked up for removal of the weels.
When somebody wants to take the car, it can be localised by means of GPS and GSM antenna poles.
So if my car is stolen Viasat localise it within 1 minute and send the police afer it ( If they're not on strike !)
And even then, with such a service, i'm considering of removing the device : reason : I pay 20 £ a month for covering in Europe (including breakdown, medical, transport home etc) but the facturation of this company is a total disaster, Normally I pay per month but even now, in Januari, I still havent received the bills of nov and dec.
And that for a company that claims that accuracy is their first strike ????

Criminals shouldn't be rehabilitated. They should be punished. And the punishment must be so severe that they would be too scared to commit it ever again. Perhaps we can follow glorious USSR's style and open up a few Gulags, having wardens with titles as "The Dentist" taking care of them..

Had mine taken (while my back was turned, not a homejack)- and recovered within 2 hours using tracker. It had been parked up neatly, locked and left. ICE and CD's left behind, boot not opened, house keys not even touched, tho' they took my Kent Police Male Voice Choir Tapes - how sad are they 
, my rattin' hat and my 10-year old stinky greasy horse-riding body-warmer. Not only that, but a fiver's worth of petrol put in the tank !! (actually, the fuel low light would have come on about the time they got to where they were going).
RAC's Tracker Sevice was absolutely excellent, and I highly recommend it. Recovery effected with 2 hours, and they kept me immaculately in touch with developments by 'phone. Not only that, but I found that the contract covers transport from the initial recovery yard back to my Home/Dealer
Police were OK, too, and very tactful in their obligatory crime-prevention advice after the fact!! Only w*****s - Subaru-UK: still waiting for a spare key 7 weeks later!! Still, that's nothing compared with 7 months-plus for the rattle to be sorted[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

Why does our prison system cost too much?
Here's why:- Every criminal costs us around 6 grand a week to keep. Ditch the do-gooding Shrinks, counsellors etc and make a prison a proper deterrent. I don't give a rats *** about scum that make our lives a misery. as far as I'm concerned throw away the key or hang them. Maybe then people might start thinking twice before committing crime. Innocent lives would also be saved in the process.
Vote Pops and I will turn it all around.
We need a hardline approach than softy softy.

They just had a hard upbringing.
Their mummies and daddies didnt love them enough.

Sorry to hear about the car mate, glad u or the wife never got hurt in the process.
Its sad to feel that we r so defenseless against this type of crime, we work hard and pay fortunes to protect our cars, the criminal is now out-smarted and has to attack us in our own homes, and the laugh is that WE CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!
If we defend ourselves and attack them, we're the ones who r commiting a more serious crime, GBH.
it doesnt seem to matter that they have broken into our properties and want to steal our cars
Correct me if i'm wrong but it seems the law protects the scum more then us, the victims.
they get a slap on the wrist (or at the worst 6 months, out in 2 in some "holiday camp" cushy open prison for breaking and entry and nicking our cars and our cards and money and personal possessions (not to mention the emotional scars we r left with)
we so much as touch them we're banged up for 3yrs on assault charges
shame tony blair aint got a scooby maybe he'd get a housejacker pay him a visit one night, see how he likes it.

Sorry to hear of your theft.
We need to start spending the same money on house security as we do on car security.
I have a decent alarm system with phone dialer, internal sound blasters and cctv with the exterior fully flood lit, all in cost less than £700. The main reason is to protect my home cinema setup and house hold goods rather than the car.
The sound blasters are really good, when they go off you all you can do is cover your ears with both hands and try to get out. I also had a demo recently of a smoke screen system, its usualy used in IT rooms and is a bit expensive but together with the sound blasters you wouldn't have a clue where you were.
I still subscribe to the chopping off of hands as an adequate punishment.

Maybe the UK should bring in the punishments they have in places like Saudi Arabia for the likes of theft, CHOP THEIR HANDS OFF!!!! See if they can drive again. Thats why people can leave thier cars unlocked out there without sh1tting their pants that they will have their car stolen.
