BMW's- driven by tossers?

Errm... isn't saying that you won't buy a car "because of the image" the equivalent of what someone else said about those who do buy the car just for image?
IS200 £21,000
318 £21,000
Lexus is faster, has more kit as standard, I prefer the looks and the image.
Had the image not been a factor, I'd have still chosen the Lexus. Had it been:
BMW is faster, looks better and has more kit, but I hate the image, then yes, you'd think I was mad. On the other hand, I could have bought a top spec Mondeo to equal the kit and beat the price of the Lexus, but I didn't. Image? No, handling.

Its nice to see that there is plenty of life in you BMW boys. I thought my comments might provoke a few comments! I really dont think all BMW drivers are tossers...just most of them!! Only joking..
BMW are fine cars, very well built and good to drive, i had a go in a M5 once..went like a steam train. I think its just the numbers of 3 series out there and there are thousands and thousands of them....common but then common because they are good cars.
So what about Vauxhall Vectra drivers then???!!!

I think NA cars feel too slow and are slower, less torque etc. No more for me, thanks
I currently have 325lb/ft from circa 3000RPM under the bonnet of my own BMW, 0-60 in 6.2 and 1/4 in 14.1 secs. Not bad for an N/A Auto weighing around 1500-1600KG's

I must be a to$$er! LOL
Still, I have 400bhp and 370ft/lbs of torque, so I'm a pretty fast to$$er! My N/A engine seems to have enough grunt as standard. Certainly more than my STI5. Would leave it for dead in fact.
Still, very different cars and horses for courses etc.
It's the 318 muppets that give us a bad name. People are surprised if I let them into a line of traffic or out of a junction. Must just be years of polite Scooby ownership rubbing off on me!

I don't see the the image of a car should reflect an individuals personality, so all of those who think image is everything.
BMW's are great cars as cars are concerned - fact. This is probably one of the main reasons people are slagging it off- because they cant handle the truth - jeolousy.

M3 EVO,
I agree that an M3 is definitely faster in a straight line compared to a P1. Obviouly there will be advantages and disadvantages for both cars.
Prodrive defintely made a very good effort by coming up with the P1, specifically to challenge the likes of Mitsubishi evos, but fail to match.
sorry, just went on talking about a different topic. But anayway, overall I think the M3 is a better car than scoobys.
ps argue as u will, scooby drivers out there know the truth (funnily, that includes me).

For all those who think BMW´s on the road are annoying, up your **** etc etc etc bla etc well try living in Munich for a day - Here we have the king of the hill - the BMW headquarters - many of the cars here (more than half) are bmws. So the few you guys see is a pathetic section of the driving world... true many are mongrels - many are not. As well as many scooby drivers actually think they know anything about everything... ESPECIALLY when it comes to "knowledge" of their and others car systems...

Was damn fast! And during the middle of the day there was bugger all traffic on the road. Passing 260 was nice - still had quite a bit in it I would imagine... However at higher speeds slight pressure differences in your tires start playing BIG differences in tyre speed and handling qualities.. but I wont bore you with that now. So, we started to take it easier and cruised along around 240/250 for the next 40 odd minutes.

Don't ya just love having motorways with no speed limits and cars that can cruise at +250 without problems, It must be so boring having a +300hp car in the UK and having to pay to go on a race track just to drive it.

No they're not !!! they are an optional extra on Mercedes aswell or if you are in Germany an optional extra on all car (except mine), they are however fitted to the outside of the car but it must be the on/off switch that is not fitted.
