I wouldnt do a Fiesta up to start with, I would wait, save a few quic and at least buy a decent platform. I would do what most people do and use the Fieata as a runaround, no amount of work or monwy will ever make them a good car in my eyes - he will get very little return for that car from his original spend.

Money wasted INHO!

Well it's fortunate that we are not overly concerned with the opinions of people such as yourselves.

When you build a car like that, the number of positive comments and praise far outway the odd couple of negative remarks. That added to the personal satisfaction of knowing that it's your own hard work and ideas that have gone into it and produced something that is individual and unique.

The fact that people such as Dave choose to spend their time on constructive hobbies and interests, rather than trawling the net and moaning about cars they don't like speaks volumes about the type of person they are.

I know who I'd rather be associated with.

Adrian

Fiesta owner and proud.

Fair enough!

I think you should practice what you preach though!! - if I need to explain then you are as stupid as you sound!

Oh, and Id much rather you Fiesta owners all stick together! Your proud to be a Fiesta owner and fair play to you, I wasnt having a personal dig you muppet!!! I was just saying that I dont like the car - sorry to have an oppinion!

You love Fiesta's, I dont - easy as that. I dont want a sad internet argument, its not my style, and Iam not moaning about cars you clown! Dont get so upset about people not aggreeing with you, you will end up a lonely old man!

Sorry if I offended you in anyway, wasnt my intention but you do talk alot of crap - I wish you many happy years with your Fiesta.

Cool

We're not all as rich as you Tom Guess money just falls in your lap, some of us have to strive just to buy a "crap" Fiesta or a "crap" MR2

I understand a bit of what your saying, but spending £17k or whatever it was over 10 years is do-able - spending in one go is not.

I know someone just like you

I understand that and Iam not arguing that!!!

You dont have to spend 17k in one hit!, how about 3k on a Golf GTI or something like that - not a poxy Ford Fiesta!!

My first car was a crappy old astra, I wasnt about to spend loads on that as it was a shed to start so I waited until I got my Cav GSI then used that as a platform, which in 1995 was a good car!

I have no argument that the guy has done a good job, I never said otherwise!

My point is that I dont think spending that amount of time or effort on a Fiesta was a worthwhile thing to do!, yes the car is now completely unique - great, but its a Fiesta! - I personally dont like them and I consider any money invested in doing them up to that extreme is well, pointless!!

Iam sure everyone who has worked on a car can respect what the guy has done - I never said otheriwse, I just cant see the poing of doing it to a bloody fiesta!! Sorry but they make me laugh!

Tom.

Ps - I hate them more than MR2's

Now this I just plain don't understand. How can you "hate" are car? What is it about it that embridles such passionate dislike?

Genuinely interested in this one as I just can't see where you're coming from

I have to say that i have done this myself having an escort RST and spending £20k on it only for it to break down all the time then only be worth £3500 when completed.

I have now moved up in class with an Evo 6 and a 2.7 BMW cab and both of them **** all over the quality of the escort.

i think tom is right when he says not to waste your money on something that will always be worth next to nothing and the owner of this car will realise this when it comes to selling the car.

we all learn though.

For god sake, i'm not talking about the majority of the board but the few of you who have slated fiestas and their owners just becuase the car isn't worth 15k or so. You may have that sort of money to shell out in one go, but that is impossible for most people. Dave has obviously gone for what he can afford at the time, like most people and then spent money on it, when he can.
You guys need to sort it out and get out of your own *****.

Ba_rave - Errrr - did you read the thread??

We are saying that fair play, he has obviously put alot of work and effort into his car - and he has done a good job - BUT - he could have bought a better platform - like a cheap Golf - thats all I am trying to say!!!!

End of.

I think that Fiesta looks pretty good. Nicely executed without being over the top , good job.

I think once you start modding its hard to stop regardless of the car and when you've put so much time and effort into it why sell it to get something possibly perceived as better ?

although i agree with you about people ripping into other peoples cars etc etc i think your point is not valid.

i can tell you that if you took the average 17 year old he could insure a standard sports car (lets say a 325 beemer or an escort RST) cheaper than a modded fiesta or any other for that matter.

modding = pricier insurance.

Well, I like it

no amount of work or monwy will ever make them a good car in my eyes
Tom, admit it, you've never driven one have you (oh, you spelt money wrong btw)

I own a Fiesta si and I just wish I could get you guys to come out in it.... ok, it's by no means the worlds best car but it really is sooo much fun I took it round Donno and had a blast, Tony Booth off here had some laps with me and his mate who owns an EVO 7, both of them were really impressed with how it performed on track, which was nice

At the end of the day, money is the limiting factor when it comes to cars, for example, I'm 25 with 5 years NCB and it's still over £1200 to insure a scoob for a year.... the festa is £425, no contest really! I'd have a scoob like a flash if I could afford one, the simple fact is, I just can't!

Don't forget though, there will be owners of Ferraris etc looking at Scoobs saying "look at him, putting on big wheels, exhausts and spoilers, thinks he's Tommi Makkinen"!

Bob, proud Fiesta owner

and another thing.... chucking boat loads of cash at a scoob doesn't make it worth any more either, have you considered folk do stuff to their cars cos they want to?

well well well...

peopel slating a fezzie.

valid point about people slagging off scoobys bit daft realy!

I know a lot of work went into that car, I myself bought a fiesta to modify as a cheap run around cause my soarer twin turbo was using up too much fuel as a daily (left most scoobies standing.... tho it wasa n auto )

I soon found all my time was being spent on little fiesta van and it was gettign the garage while the soarer and supra sat in the rain :P

I saw that it was financially a disaster, ploghtd cash into it adn yes at the end of the day its a fiesta (FWD eeeeewww) with flimsy contolls, obligitry rust spots and dubious build quality... worth bugger all in terms of the bank...but it wasa FUN car, and it got a lot mre attention tehn the soarer and Supra. kinda thing where peoler come up to you in car parks and start talking about your car, or give you a thumbs up as you drive past was a 1.8 disel tho LOLOL

rememer to a lot of big gT drivers scooby are noisy little fart boxes, its horses for courses I like scoobys... prefer supras... but its not for me to go out of my way to slag off a modded car...

unless its a 1.3 civic with fast and furious spoilers and huge type R graphics... of course

Well, first of all I'd have to say I was just going to ignore this as, at the end of the day, people are allowed their own opinion! However I thought I'd just add a mail to clear up a few points:

First of all I am amazed that you could be even bothered to write so much about a car you 'hate'. Why bother? I'd just laugh and leave it at that!

Personally I, funnily enough, like Fiestas as a) they're different b) decent ones are a rarity as they are a few years old now and c) it's my money and quite frankly I'll do what the hell I like with it! d) It's my hobby and interest messing about with them!

TOM; you are entitled to your opinion...and I don't have a problem with it but it is only your opinion. Personally I think a Fiesta is a, and I quote, 'decent platform'. I think I would have to kill myself if I had a 'Golf' or a 'Cavalier' (lol)....but then that is MY opinion. A 'decent' car is something you want not what someone else wants you to have...ok? I'm no sheep and I don't do what people prescribe me to do! Personally I like Scooby P1's but apart from that, and I could actually afford one, I wouldn't touch one because, in my opinion, every Joe has or wants one. That doesn't say it's not a good car, I know it is, but in my opinion I would rather have something else. If you don't like Fiesta's fair enough it's your opinion but as I said I don't take other people's opinion into account when I buy a car as I'm sure you would never end up buying a car because 'a' doesn't like that and 'b' doesn't like that! How do you judge a cr@p car anyway, looks? speed? Beauty,as they say, is in the eyes of the beholder (er....me) and speed....well let's just say I wouldn't be worried taking on a Scooby with the engine I'm currently building. Thanks for listening to MY opinion.

TRUBADOR; Thanks for the advice but I'm well aware I wont get anything back for it....I don't intend to because I wont ever be selling it!

Everyone else; Thanks for just being civil and appreciating it for what it is, not what you do or don't like. You don't have to like something to appreciate someone else's time, effort and opinion.

Cheers

'Kin Shed Owner (lol!)

Cool

A female friend of mine has a fiesta and it is a great little car, I also had a 1.7 Puma which is also a fiesta with bigger wheels, which was an amazing little car for what it cost.

Grow up FFS

Here are some pictures of my current mode of transport, I have had lots of people tell me it is ugly, noisy, looks terrible covered in stickers blah blah blah, but I don't giva a **** I like it

It looks and sounds faster than it it, but it is noisy and expensive to run for what it is.

LOL at everyone has or wants a P1. You have a Fiesta, how many P1s do you see everyday, and how many Fiestas do you see everyday? I think you shot yourself in the foot there.

Either way, I love it. I wouldn't of gone as lairy with the interior, but apart from that 'glitch' it's gorgeous.

Mr Tom over there dislikes the new MGs 'coz "they're Rovers", so ignore any comment he makes about an 'everyday motor' 'coz he has expensive taste, obviously

Rich

PS - if it was a pukka RS it'd be worth more than early Impreza Turbos

Expensive tastes indeed!!

Fair play to all, and yup Iam not the MGs biggest fan!

I never slated the car directly, I ws slating the principle of starting with a Fiesta but Kin Shed Owner has made a good point in what he says, and I musat have got some backs up for the responses!!

It was the first few postrs that ay into the car, I simply was aiming my comments towards the idea.

As for not knowing about everyday cars, well sadly I dont drive that many, only about 5 different ones a week, so what would I know!, working in the trade dealing wth cars under 15k al day long I wouldnt know anything

Oh - and I have driven every mark of Fiesta from 1 to current, and I just dont like te car, the Mk2 XR2 was fun, as was the RS Turbo.

Apologies to the Fiesta and MG owners clubs for not liking thier cars, may I learn the errors of my ways and stop buying performance cars, maybe I could get an MG!

Good points raied by all and believe it or ot it wasnt my intention to cause ofence but my wording could have been better!

Have fun in whatever you drive

Total respect to 'Kin Shed Owner'
What a lot of time and work you have put in to make an individual car.

Keep doing it. Cause I think you made a good job of it, looking at the pics.

LOL I haven't bothered to read the thread but my last car-a Fiesta RS Turbo in Moondsust Silver (only 71 made) was a lot less common than a P1 and a FRST is a lot less common than a Scoob these days. I had it chipped (£150) taking the power from 133bhp to 165bhp in a 920kg car! Not bad for £3000 in all!

I think people are either unable to read a thread in full or are just out for an argument.
If you read this thread in full you will see that Tom was only stating that with this car the money and time spent on it has been a waste (to a certain degree)
I reckon this project would of cost over £7k so with this amount of money the owner would of been able to buy a platform like an imprezza, sierra cosworth, early evo, 944 turbo, BMW M3 or many other higher quality cars and yes, i know he loves the fiesta but that is not saying he wouldnt of loved another choice just as much.
Lets hope he does keep it as it would be a shame to see so much money lost if he did.

And before any of you go sprouting on about what do i know, first let me tell you, i spent £20k on an escort RS Turbo and the damn thing was only sold for £3.5k

If i had bought another platform that held its value i wouldnt of had to spend so much of my savings when it come to upgrading cars.

What a total bunch of pr1cks some of you have shown yourselves to be. A big thank you to those, who even though they didnt like it wasnt a complete ****, and posted its a shed, its crap, its poo.

Maybe you should realise that as a student, maybe he couldnt afford a so called super car, maybe the fiesta was the only thing he could afford at the time, maybe he didnt want to be just another muppet in a golf. Theres no need to be ***** about it, and as for your so called platform to start from i hope you lot are on that platform at the moment!

I'll admit, I used to like impreza's, but at the time i was sixteen, i grew out of the fad, and realised that there are many more better cars out there!
And some of the replies on here has proved the saying "Its a **** car! Cos as most of you have shown, every Cvnt has one!!!"

We cant all afford/ not everyone wants a poobaru, and before you go saying its a waste of money spending money on a car like that, im sure you've all spent money on your cars!

So just grow up, and realise evn though you think you can mix it with Cossie's, there's still other cars that'll blow you to pieces!
Just see the link!
http://www.fiestaturbo.com/viewfeaturecar.php?car=sunny

and i would like to point out that this was with the previous engine! Which is buggar all compared to the present set up!

hope to read/laugh at some of the replies soon
