I never really understand the car hatred thing. Kin Shed Owner (Dave) came on and gave a very well worded reply, to which even TomM couldnt retort, then people like DAN-FRST come on spurting teenage stuff again.

I have never subscribed to taking the piss out of other makes, hence why I drive an MR2 and take part in a Subaru forum (as well as the Lancer forum, Fiat Coupe forum etc - though not as much).

I just like fast cars - Fiats, Fords, Scoobs etc etc

All IMHO, of course ;)

Can I just say, I drive a Citroen ZX, and thus am free from nasty stereotypes.

I'd also like to say I agree with DreamWeaver, and am similar in that I'm a member of Fiestaturbo.com despite my car. all cars r good. with the possible exception of Nova's, which i must admit, I dislike, if only cos my mum used 2 hav a 1.0 and it was horrible.

So the lesson here, people, is dump your RS Turbos and WRX STi's, and go out and buy a ZX and we can all live in peace and harmony together. :D

hehe, ianc, sounds brilliant! yeah i can c how the arch would b a biatch, however it does go up a long way so there's no need 2 worry bout scrubbing...

un4tunately my insurance company won't let me modify mine so it's standard apart from a new head unit, it's a 1997 1.4 and it does very nicely for a first car. doesn't hav the nifty sliding seat tho :-( were u aware it had a passive rear wheel steering mechanism? sounds really techno jap stylee if u tell ppl about it haha :-D

I wish it was up a long way - the volcane was covering even the standard 14's!

Yeah, I knew about the rear steer, a great "trick" when you get the weight over it and it just corners... can un-nerve passengers tho, feels like the back has let go!

Mine was a '92 1.9i volcane with a boot full of stereo gear, had it 5 years, travelled all over europe, even won one or two competitions with the stereo install.

(don't suppose you want that sub box do you? if you have a 5dr it's a *very* tight custom fit!)

Turbo_Steve 29 November 2002 12:09 AM

Good lord!

Well..if it makes him happy (and I think it does) then goo luck to him. Hell of a project.

Not really my style though.

Steve Fort 29 November 2002 12:24 AM

Not really my kettle of fish either, but you've gotta admire the time and effort that must have been put into it.

Whatever floats yer boat, good luck to the bloke.:)

Sith 29 November 2002 12:33 AM

Doesn't look too bad, seen some very badly modded Festas. Too much ICE IMO, slows car down.

If he's happy.....

I have seen some whoefull Impreza modifications in the press. Each to their own.

STI MAN 29 November 2002 01:39 AM

~£500 for the car, and 3K on 'upgrades'.......6X the car's worth!!!

Going of those figures, I need to spend £174K on upgrading my STi7 PPP

I think I'll leave the money sitting in my imagination :D

+Doc+ 29 November 2002 07:38 AM

I`ve seen it in the flesh beleive me its quite impresive, dont judge people by their tastes, Dave has put a lot of work into his car IMO is very smart for what it is.
Doc

+Doc+ 29 November 2002 07:40 AM

Oh and describing it as a shed is wrong its concourse, a shed is a car that doesnt get looked after like the Subaru repmobiles :D

chiark 29 November 2002 08:28 AM

Come on guys, be fair! That is one hell of a fiesta and I would
be extremely chuffed if I'd managed to do that!!!!!

Just because it ain't a subaru doesn't mean that it is by default not worth doing up. Individuality is sometimes the name of the game.

A lot of us follow a tried and trusted route like sheep - I have done - and if anyone dares to do anything different they're told "ooh, you don't wanna do that, your engine will blow up"

I think that Fiesta looks good, the ICE is excellent, the interior retrim is stunning.

Stop being quite so snobbish? We look like a bunch of self-righteous tossers sometimes...

Nick.
(Kenny! Are you using that suit?????? ;) )

The Zohan 29 November 2002 08:33 AM

Each to his own, not my cup 'o tea but nice to see people putting that much attention and creativity into something. lot of tidy looking motas.

AdrianFRST 29 November 2002 08:46 AM

kimera, just the kind of blinkered eliteism that I'd expect on here...

If you don't like that sort of thing, what are you doing looking at the site? ;)

Wurzel 29 November 2002 08:49 AM

Well said Chiark !!!

cheeseboy 29 November 2002 08:55 AM

ditto Chiark!

Re-Bitten Hero 29 November 2002 08:58 AM

Yep, totally with Nick (Chiark) on this one. Each to their own and I'm extremely impressed with the effort and work that's gone into it...

Reffro 29 November 2002 09:11 AM

I have to admit, that I like the car, well done to the fella that has put all the graft into making it.

SiPie 29 November 2002 09:22 AM

Amazing effort by the guy

but..... Where does he put his golf clubs....?

Dream Weaver 29 November 2002 09:25 AM

I think it is very nice - looks great and lots of hard work. Anyone noticed the Noble M12 in the background of one of the pics

gossythevaleter 29 November 2002 09:34 AM

Very nice imho.
me and my wife also own a fiesta xr2i that has been turbo charged and while i agree with each to there own i do think some of you are being a bit harsh.

turboman786 29 November 2002 09:39 AM

Looks quite fat....lovely interior......fat wheels........ber the ICE kicks..how is this a shed???/

me julie 29 November 2002 09:45 AM

yeah com on what is it that makes this car a shed then????

AdrianFRST 29 November 2002 09:46 AM

The M12 actually has Fiesta stalks and interior light!

Sorry about the poor quality of the pics, not a brilliant camera (MX-1200, several years old).

Not the ideal location for a photoshoot, but we were short of time and both had packed schedules.

Dream Weaver 29 November 2002 10:07 AM

I remember the Jaguar XJ220 had Montego GTi/Maestro stalks - always used to make me laugh :D:D

We used to have a Montego GTi - great car back in its day :)

TomM 29 November 2002 10:29 AM

What a Peen Arse.

Should have spent all that money on a decent car to start with.

Redkop 29 November 2002 10:37 AM

I dont see why Scoob people refer to Fords as sheds - I have seen some Scoobs that could easily be referred to as sheds. OK the interior is not to my taste either - but it's each to their own!

AdrianFRST 29 November 2002 11:28 AM

TomM,

If you read the feature you'll see that when the car was bought, Dave was a student on a limited budget. Money has been spent on the car in stages.

Granted, if you have 20k in your hand you wouldn't spend it on a Fiesta, but that isn't the situation here.

It also started off as a 1.1, so engine work was out of the question for several years due to prohibitive insurance costs.

If sure there are more than a few people here who have spent enough on Scooobys to buy what some would consider a more "decent" car.

kimera 29 November 2002 11:50 AM

thats right guys each to their own

and my own is "its a kin shed", thats my opinion, a truly misinformed judgement of money spendage, IMHO
