Was it really JC's car?

For those that recorded the programme take a look at the car you may notice the odd difference!!!

I thought the car that Jeremy was driving had a licence plate of SL55 AMG (just for the show obviously), but when the Stig drove it, it had a different plate. Hmmmm.

I think you might notice that the colour is slightly different as well, I did wonder whether the plates were JC's own as the SL55 isnt out yet...

But I think the colour is suspect

Cool

If you dont like dont watch unless your TV only has BBC2 , in which case switch off .

There are plenty of other car progs which you can watch them test the same cars as they are released.

I think its a great show and wouldnt miss it. One of only a few TV progs I actually make an effort to watch live.

What you find is that the same people slagging it off are the first to complain there is no car shows on the TV . Go onto the website and put in suggestions if you want to add something or have any good ideas.

Cheers

ChrisP

Did anyone else think that the new guy, driving the BM 4 series in Portugal drove like a clown? It was all skidding to a halt and wheelspinning off on public roads. He was also hairing down a public road at clearly double the speed limit. If I was series editor I'd have his ***** for breakfast for driving like that on a public road. Save it for Tiff on the track...

My bet is that the road was closed??? So I dont think there was much of an issue there.

As for the footage, I think the director had just entered the Turner Prize for camera work! It was very arty, at one point the camera angle was through what looked like a bake bean can.

It was lucky the car sold itself, as the footage didnt.

Lets hope they get a better engine in it though, the Boxster isnt very quick but for it to lag behind isnt good.

fortunately its faster than the Z3, that was a joke!

Re the Z4 bit on top gear. It was portugal so the locals drive like the roads are closed even when they can see the oncoming traffic hairing towards them as they perform a suicidal bus overtake. If you ask me he could have done with giving it a bit more commitment as he seemed to be having problems making it slide No different from our tiffany on the other side driving the 350Z in california the other week on a public road.

Whats going on with all these politically correct and morally righteous types on a performance driving forum? Every time someone mentions speed, an accident, the police, driving fast etc they come out of the woodwork. Are the powers that be trying to brainwash us No offence meant to any politically correct morally righteous types of course.

Mr Chadwick, what he was doing not only seemed irresponsible on a public road (feel free to pat him on the back if you think it's dead lever though) but his skid stops and wheelspins were also pretty childish. Are you one to spin your wheels away from the lights and revel in your cleverness?

I am *clever* enough to be able to do donuts and handbrake turns (ask anyone who went to Prodrive Live) but do you know I dont do these on public roads as it would be irresponsible and childish.

You see only personal *fun*, and its not that simple. He drove like a joyrider, not an acomplished skilled driver, and I write as someone who has produced many similar motoring features but without such purile driving behaviour.

Off for some lentils now and to check if anyone in the office has said Miss instead of Ms (PC my ****!)

With regard to the public roads, I bet there was a guy stood behind the cameraman letting him know if there was anything round the corner. And are you allowed to say that things look 'gay' without being hung, drawn and quartered these days?

Gay means happy doesn’t it?

Walk around Brighton and there are many happy people

By having to watch what you say is just as bad as making derogatory comments.

Its like referring to people by the colour of their skin. This can be considered as racist, but surely not being able to mention this and being free to talk is just as racist?

The world should get on with living and stop worrying about being offended.

And I also agree, this is a site about going fast, but I hope that since the cost of owning a Scooby is slightly more than a nova, the brain power might be a little greater on this site.

There is a time and a place for going fast, and if it is safe to do so then it is ok, otherwise curb the speed. Determining when it is safe to do so is down to that brainpower thing.

The Z4 stunt was fine, in my eyes, the road was clear and the weather was excellent. But why do people have to assume it sets precedence for everyday driving?

Atom - teenagers for one are very impressionable! (I know I was -'think you're bloody Roger Clark' was the infamous comment as I got 3 points and a fine for a perfectly executed handbrake turn with no one around...). I hope I therefore speak from experience!

Gay is no longer considered to be a derogatory comment or description of someone. Therefore there are no grounds for grievance or slander, etc........ allegedly

I wouldn't countenance that sort of driving on my way through the rush hour crawl but in the context of a review of a sports car I think it entirely appropriate that it is seen to be driven fast - that is what people buy them for after all. I do agree that his gravel induced slide looked a bit amateur but I'll forgive. I applaud Top Gear for their anti-anti-motoring stance, the backlash starts here

Safety is important and people should consider their actions but holier than thou should not be a way of life.

Diesel, if no-one was around, who gave you the ticket?

Think Top Gear is ok....but WAAAAAAAAY to slow. Seems to primarily be a vehicle for Mr.JC to massage his ego. I have no problem with him: I like the guy, I would just rather watch a programme about cars rather than about Jeremy giving his opinion on cars.

How about this: Stig drives car, Stig says what he thought.
Jeremy drives car: says what he thinks. Stig drives another car...says what he thought. Jeremy does the same. Stig drives 3rd car...says what he thought. Jeremy drives it and says something different. Stig and Jeremy argue. Quick slot for 5 mins with Jeremy interviewing someone and being funny. Stig shoots Jeremy funny look.
Stig drives car says what he thought.
Jeremy does the same.
That should probably fill up the hour nicely.
