Hey Stuart,

My areas the same.....

Left my own car unlocked sometimes......

..... but it's the opportunists you gotta watch out got..... Well you can't really....

couple of years back had trouble wit my motor... wouldn't start and wot not.... It had to stay out on the road....

..... got it sorted.......

left it on the drive..........

..... next morning it wasn't there...

I never used to leave it out... always put it in the Garage...

needless to say..won't be buying a ford again...

...sorry to drone on

(memories flooding back of SOB's!!!!!)

Did they nick the keys off the owner? Seems a bit weird that they came back for it. I'd have thought they'd have left well alone!

I wish the police would do something useful, you shouldn't have to pay/lose ur no claims.

Surely the feds should have arranged for it to be taken away!!!!!

in the interest of ALL parties and the public!!!!

Isn't this what we pay our taxes for??

If they left it there so they could stake it out (Then that';s tax payers money well spent) (To catch the SOB's)..... don't mind paying for that!!!!!

good to see the police are doing their jobs well, they are too busy pulling people over for doing 34 in a 30, or for not wearing a belt, or no tax or whatever...

hope you catch them, that damage looks expensive.

Good point!

Why is it that abandoned cars are left so that they get burnt out etc? For example, down the road from us and half a mile away, just past where Jeremy Clarkson lives on the back road to Woodstock, a car was abandoned and over a series of evenings bits went missing, windscreen smashed in, then burnt out. This is the Cotswolds not the wild West! Why the police or local council can't remove the obviously abandoned vehicles away amazes me.

Sorry to rant on!

:-)

Phil,
sorry to hear your car was damaged matey.

The Pics rang a bell and I must have driven past your car this afternoon. I wont mention locations but what a frigging small world it is. I had a burglary a few weeks ago with the ******* after my keys. I hope you get it all sorted.

Subaru Assistance Picked it up this morning dropping it off at Supreme Motor Bodies.

There response was "jesus thats a nasty one"

The assessor will be inspecting it within 48 hours.

The Rover was still there this morning

I am going to see the Police this afternoon as I thought a personel visit might actually gain a response

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND KIND WORDS

Sorry to read about and see the damage done to your car, again.

I hope the Police do get their fingers out and do something to sort this out for you.

Don't hold your breath!
Did you ever get a response to your 999 call?
If not, that's disgusting. If you did, how long did it take?
And do you think the local paper would be interested in the "official" response??

Phil

Really sorry to see what those plonkers did to your car. I hope you get it back soon in top condition.

I wonder why when we are told that there are more police then ever before there is never one in sight. Our local police station closes at 5.30 and there is only one panda car covering what sounds like half the county. As someone else said, maybe a letter to your local paper-trouble is you would be a marked man after that.

Good luck anyway

Les

Just spoken to the Police AGAIN

"My 999 call was logged but not answered"

WHAT

"looks like it sir"

I am now writing a formal letter of complaint to the Chief Inspector which I will copy to Mr Blair

BTW the offending car is still sitting unlocked over the road to me

very sorry for you phil.
as far as 999 calls go, we had an intruder in our builders yard recently. backing on to our yard are some bungalows owned largely by the elderly. phoned police on behalf of neighbour - no response.
same thing happened a few days later, this time said that had seen a bloke who was pissed getting into a car outside our yard - 10 minutes later plod turns up with blue lights a flashing! WTF!
said we knew nothing but, but were coincidently investigating an intruder. asked them to help - guess what they had a quick glance round ansd said they would look into it, before promptly f---ing off!
this makes me very angry.
also whilst i am ranting - all 999 calls for the isle of wight have to go through a switchboard in fareham. the people on the end of the line always say "oh, is that near such and such?" the isle of wight is not a big place, and these incompetents know nothing about the geograpy of it. total waste of time. depressing is'nt it?

Hi mate, read all the threads and seen the pics, wot a ******.

Its nice to no the police respond so well to 999 calls.

they're more interested in the front, nicking people for dodgy numberplates and having their fog lights on!!!

obviously more important then car theives and car wreckers.

my mate had his car stolen.

one night a neighbour startled 4 youths around his car and looking in, they walked off, neighbour told him and he called police.

they never arrived.

he called again in morning, they said no damage or injury caused so there's no point in sending out a unit.

that night his alarm goes off, he runs out door open and ignition barrel all messed up.

Once again 999, no response.

following morning, police called, they turn up 2hrs later.

'sorry sir, nothing we can do, looks like they want this one'

that night, it went missing, HT leads had been removed but they only opened up a neighbours car and 'borrowed' theirs.

Its just gr8 to see how well our property is protected.

once again, sorry to hear about the motor.

Hope things turn out good in this situation 4 ya, if they can!!

Phil, what a **** thing to happen, as so many have said.

But, make sure that you get the damage assessed correctly. Must have been quite a hit, and that may have damaged more than just the alloy. (lower arm, driveshaft, possibly front diff)

Not gonna comment on the Police involvement, but I'm sure this society would look just a tad better if they actually *did* have time to react properly (leaving it open if that is their fault)

Anyway, just a note to say : make sure you don't have "hidden" costs after the facts.

shame to hear about your car mate . not too good at all! the police just dont do anything to help these days , try double parkin your car or not paying your meter in the city centre and they will have it towed away in minutes , but the wont move a stolen car till its burnt out and causing an obstruction . Only reason being is because there is NO revenue for them to make !! waste of time talkin to them . just my 2p worth . hope you get it sorted

I work very close to Scoobysport
