Just been out

It's still doing it! aaarrrggghh!

It's really annoying

Gonna take the dawes boost controller off 2moro and see if it creeps without it.

Maybe it's something else, but didn't notice it before the dawes went on!

Glad I done the new pipework though, didn't really like the ones that come with the dawes, is it me or is the grey pipe that goes to the actuator made from the same stuff as those fishing lures on late night shopping channels!

to be continued...........

Test for ya mate..
Take the dawes off and remove the ball bearing and spring then replace it, if you run 15psi then my explanation was right.. i will explain a bit clearer..

Gave up and went out for some food!

So does this mean the dawes wont go ant higher than 15psi?
And all the ball bearing and spring does is make the boost come in quicker?

So I can run the dawes without the bearing and spring, get just over 1bar and not have the 'increased responce time' the dawes offers coz of the bearing n spring?

It just a thought mate.. the ball bearing/dawes stays shut until the determined level, it will go higher than 15 as the ball bearing will stay closed until whatever you set it at, if it opens at say... 18psi it wont go down to 15 as the ballbearing will close again...

I'm not really getting it to be honest.

I've adjusted the dawes to come in with 0.90bar@4,500 in 4th, but it still climbs again at 5,000rpm and upwards, it's all a bit up and down, to be honest it's p*ss*ng me off

Just want 1bar coming in and holding or tailing off slightly like I'm used to in any turbo i've had.

What about a bleed valve with a small filter on the bled air outlet, or put the bled air outlet to the inlet where the standard boost solenoid pipe normally goes?

James ( fed up with boost creep )

yep, that will be fine mate.. make sure that you take the restrictor out from inside of the pipe that goes back into the intake.. it is a small brass restrictor, if you feel along the pipe you will find it..
Basically the bleed valve can take the place of the boost solenoid, one pipe to the turbo, one to the actuator and one to the intake..

Just read your thread.. Doh....
Could be a good excuse to buy a -31 actuator and set it as 1bar..
Sell the dawes and pay the extra for a new -31 actuator

Oh yeah -31 actuator....reminds me of the cossie days

It's weird, when tuning cossies there allways seems to be uprated actuators, don't hear much about it on this forum, people tend to go the dawes route.

Any ideas on a good place to get me a -31 or even a standard one?

I enquired about this a couple of months back, think it was £80??
I asked at a local motorsport shop, however mine is a one peice actuator whereas you can adjust yours (two peice)?? basically you will only need a normal -31 actuator and screw your arm onto it..
My local shop seems to add vat on top of vat inclusive prices so i am sure it will be cheaper, try and contact Turbo Dynamics.. that is where the shop orders from, it may be cheaper direct??
