Very good and valid points John - but what would YOU do??

1. Nothing?

2. Help all the 3rd world countries with money and education? (they would STILL hate us and kill us as we have different ideals)

3. Try to root them out and attempt a surgical removal - and flatten anyone who stands in our way??

I will take the 3rd way thanks, yes, the west has done some bad things and the west doesnt get it right all of the time - but its MY west and MY home and MY freedom and MY family they want to destroy and I, for one, do NOT want to take the kicking lying down crying into the soil of Political correctness.

Not that I want to question your clearly superior ICBM knowledge the wink here denotes me not being serious!

And pardon the question but how the Fooch are do you know the sphere of influence of the Pakistanis Nuclear capabilities?

The 'pardon the question' denotes I am asking a question. The 'how the Fooch do you know' denotes a question but the Fooch shows my surprise at someone still having their copies of War Machine and finaaly the give away of all give aways the ?

Oh BTW I am dead jealous that you work fro BMX sorry I mean AWE can we have a school trip there

You still haven't replied to my question though:
I have to say I have read your other post with some interest. Aren't you the slightest bit unnerved by the Religious, Political and Military cliff that we are teetering on?[/quote]

you guys are lucky you don't live in the states, or in a big city in the states... I live about 10mins away from San Fancisco, and work in San Jose, two of California's major citys. Tuesday has changed the world as John said.... Tuesday has been a turning point in all American, if not the worlds people.

I try to ignore the threat we see here, but you can only ignore such a major issue to a certain extent. I work on the 12th floor of a 16 story building in the DIRECT flight path of San Jose Int. airport, everytime a plane flys over our building (about to land, the airport is 3 miles from Adobe), I get scared. I'm sure every American thinks of the countless lives that were lost on the dark day of sept.11th 2001 when they see a plane fly by.

You should see the streets here, EVERY single car has some sort of flag, peice of american memerobilia with them. This is their way of saying "5uck you Bin laden, Afganastan". As much as people deny having a hatred for arabs now, The thought is well inside their minds. This is one of the main reasons that the states WILL fight back! We will not be pushed around by some ugly, POS arab, who thinks that he will go to heaven for killing over 5000 people! We are going to make a big noise, so big, that the whole world will hear it. They will pay for their mistake.... If they retaliate, there is going to be another Hiroshima, I can already see it.

Anyway, now that I am pissed

take care, and thats for reading.

Daniel

Can we be let into the secret of your Occupation?? as you dont appear to list much at all about yourself.

When I joined the AWE I cannot remember one of the questions being, "do you ever wind people up? if so you cant work here" Most of the questions covered Technical Prowess and an Uncorruptable Character. Basically someone with a brain AND ***** - needless to say lots of people fail to get employment here .... not much point you applying then KF

What exactly do you do there pete. The reason i ask is simple. i used to work in establishments like those for years repairing and designing the NDT equipment used to test every component of weapon systems using XRays, Eddy Current and my main speciality, Ultrasonics.

I worked on Nuclear power stations too, i built robots that used to walk down inside the reactor cores to scan the pipes for cracks.

Walking around on top of a nuclear reactor is nothing special, its bloody quiet actually.

Now one thing i learned from that is that working for these establishments means diddley squat when it comes to knowledge of the systems unless you are doing very specific jobs.

These places are just like normal factories in the main, nothing special really.

Sooo, what is it you do there?

Not having a go, honest, just intrigued as to your speciality.

P.S I glow in the dark. LOL

Well said John,

You agree then that these sort of organisations and the fanatics that represent them will not disappear without a fight.Bringing them to justice 'dead or alive to quote Bush' will not be a quick and easy process will it......

Maintaining a vigilance against potential terrorist attacks is surely going to be a massively expensive and at best semi successful task?????

Scott - no I am not worried - I get my car searched for bombs twice every day. I am surrounded by men weilding machine guns. I work not 500 yards from a radioactive installation. I get spatt at and jeered regularly by crazed women in the name of CND.

And you have the bl00dy cheek to take the pi55 out of me working for BMX as you put it!!

I would love for you to bring the school you attend - we do a great line in 'cool' stuff!! I did detect a childish bent to your arguements, so my little one - shouldnt you be in bed now? I am sure you have a big day tomorrow making paper airplanes

Obviously a might have greased the wheels a bit Pete.

I am well aware that a sense of humor and working in the AWE are not mutually exclusive, but you will forgive me for the mental image I currently have.
KF.

EDIT: I just thought that I would add, writing "Unemployed" in a section asking for your occupation struck me as a bit of a stupid idea.

dont get me wrong pete. This is a very complex subject and i dont express the opinion i have the answers. There are two threats really that i see. One is state sponsoring of terorist activities. When that is proven we have no choice but to react with force.

The thing i am trying to get people to think about, which seems to be being ignored right now is the threat from terror groups that dont care about places like Afghanistan being wiped out, because they have no nation. They are rich and they are mobile.

These are the real threat that is going to cause us most harm in the future i believe.

Hello Daniel, welcome to the UK boards again. Dont worry, we are all as concerned as yourself. We are probably a little more open about the frightening prospects for the future than on the BBS in the US because people are suffering more from trauma there right now for discussing the huge implecations of this.

I promised myself an early night tonight. Of to bed now.

We should be glad we don't libe in the states? Excuse me, but we have had constant terrorist attacks for the last 30 years, and the US did not get bombed by the Luftwaffe. This is why we can empathise with the US over these terrible attacks. Please don't try to preach to us about how terrible this all is like we haven't a clue.

I think the only safe place there is, is where they don't have TV's. Places that are either not advanced or rich enough have little to worry about, except basic day-to-day survival.

What he is saying is this Daniel.

The Irish Comunity (a section of it, not all!) has been bankrolling the IRA in Northern Ireland for decades.

The result of that is that citizens, inocent citizens of the UK have been murdered for decades for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

People in Northern Ireland who were not of their views have been assasinated with car bombs.

People having a quiet drink of Guiness in a pub have been strewn with the indisciminate automatic weaponry from an Irish Terrorist.

Children have been blown to pieces because they were walking past a trash can in the middle of a shopping centre.

Thats what he is getting at.

Any terorism is horendous. We have lived with that reality for decades. If we really are going after terorists now, expect a few strange deaths in Ireland real soon.

We will see, i doubt it some how.

Terrorists have plagued everywhere... The states included... Do you guys remember the Pan Am bombing in the 80's? That totally ended Pan Am's business.... These people are inhuman.... I have nothing else to say but:

I'm not sure if this post is gonna be welcome, or not. This thread seems to have turned into a bit of a joke.

Anyway. I do not feel that there is too much danger of a Nuclear War in the near future.
Most threatening countries who have the weapons, do not have the capabilities of using them on us. (Look - I know f*ck all ok?)
The only worries I have are these:

1- China are Pakistans closes allie. As we all know, the Chinese dissaprove of Americas "policing" of the world (usually in economic interests). If the Chinese decide to object to Americas show of strength and retaliation, then we could have a difficult situation. It was bad enough when that american spy plane crashed in China.

2- Until recently you wouldn't imagine anyone carrying out the terrorist acts of last Tuesday. They were unthinkable. There are certain things that you wouldn't imagine anyone doing. Now, the limits have been broadened. It is fairly easy to obtain lethal viruses. How long before someone uses one in anger? (It's happened in Japan already).

I know nothing ok, so don't bother.

Question

While we are wiping out all the terrorists in the world, what are we going to do about the people who train them and bankroll them? As John F (the muppet) has correctly pointed out, Noraid has been funding IRA operations for many years. Noraid raises money through a charity type status in the US. The british goverment/army have been caught lending support to loyalist terrorists in Ireland. Looking at the big picture shows that both Britian and US have been involved in controlling and maintaining an acceptable level of violence here for 30 years. Too much and they lose popularity, too little and the extremists might break away. Who also trained the Mujahadeen to fight the commies? These people where trained very sucessfully in terrorist tactics by CIA, SAS and whoever else wanted to stop Russia from gaining power in Afganistan. Many of these people are now members of the Taliban. Where did Saddam get all the technology to fight the gulf war... America and Britan AGAIN (help given freely to stop Iran from kicking his ***.) If history repeats itself, US and Britan will go to war with the Taliban. They will not lose the war, but will be unable to win. They will supply money, arms and training to a bunch of locals who will eventually take power. These people will then bite us back in 10 years time. Quickest fix might be to stop the funding and training now.

Quick Reply: World War 3, just how close are we?
