Phil,
Tiggs and my car are getting the PPP fitted today and we never spoke with our dealer.
Box clever ring IM direct, dont no number, ask directories for IM in West Bromich and when through ask for subaru accessories and you should find yourself talking to a very nice brummie man
Be politely persuasive, maybe beg a little
and may the force be with you.

"Mez the young jedi"

PS where do you get your smilies, well wicked?!

Question

Do I have to have the whole PPP? With buying the car from my hard earned cash I'm a bit short straight away for the whole thing - could I just get the exhaust part of it and then do the ECU / intercooler part at a later date without the wife knowing??

scrapy doo,

nope, i asked IM about this ages ago and was told it was all or nothing. there is an exhaust upgrade avalible from dealers but, unless i'm mistakem, it won't be suitable for PPP.

Tiggs

PS- i collect my PPP'd car in 1hr , this better be worth the wait!

SGT in Taplow, Maidenhead- nice people but my chat with IM is why i ended up getting the PPP sorted so quickly rather than anything the dealer did.

Tiggs

edited due poor spelling caused by "PPP in 30mins" excitement!

Just for you Tiggs

!!!

Back to the real world. I asked my dealer to put me at the top of the list (ive since decided to go the SS route as IM/Prodrive basically have sucked all my enthusiam for the PPP out of me. As a laugh i emailed my dealer - to see when i was booked in for.

Guess what???

THEY'D FECKIN FORGOT!!! They want me to wait another 1.5 months!!

Hope its worth it folks. Cant wait for my Link!!

Well its here at last, i,ve finally got the PPP fitted. So isit worth the wait.....

Well its louder which is a good start, not ss loud but for my needs its perfect. cant visit my clients if it sounded any louder, they'd think i was a nutter.

Is it faster? Yes, but not sure its £1600 faster, i've only driven an hour in it and 20mins was on the m way so i'll reserve my final opinion for now.

jza,
nice to see you back on form

it's getting better!

been out for an hour and it is certainly quicker and has more grunt.

trouble is its still very smooth and so unless your near another car its hard to get a sense of your speed.

Tiggs

PS- Wagon owners... it seems the noise is louder in the wagon, mezzer got his 4dr ppp'd today as well and says he can hardly hear the exhaust on the motorway. you get a nice thrumming in the 5dr though- sounds like a TVR is tailgaiting

Unhappy

i hear the sound of hearts breaking!
what are my01 owners going to do if the ppp DOESNT meet expectations

girlfriend had scooby with superchip. not a single problem from it. i had my00 with ppp. hers ate my car for breakfast, it really did. did i think it was worth 2k? ultimately, no. i wish i'd gone down the unichip/link route instead. much more moddable.

PPP'd as Tiggs said not so noisy in the saloon but is so when hitting the lady of plastic accleration
A lot smoother than i expected, just by looking in your mirrors, entering bends, approaching roundabouts do get that "JEE-SUS"
sensation
Good luck to those that are waitng but hassle IM not the dealers....
oh and the dealer cleaned my car as well a brucie bonus, so now mine is as shiny as Tigg's tarts waggon

phil, want me to send your dealer a pic of my MY01 Wagon PPP, it does exist

Final verdict is in..... this car is now perfect, my initial reservations have been overcome (last time i go fo a drive in flip flops). Put some proper shoes on and went for a spin on some twisties. It sounds superb, just pulling up beside people at the lights had them beat before they go greem

On bits of road that i'd normaly accelerate onto foot to the floor i now have to use partial throttle, it just gathers pace so quick. In fact it's a good job it was dry because i got caught out a couple of times when i nailed it mid corner and found it was driving to hard before i was ready to straighten up, had to back off and ended up not far from lift off o/steer. Before the car in the same spot would gather speed much slower and be pushing hard as i left the corner- not half way round it

In summary- superb, just what i bought the car for in the first place.

Best bit, which sums it all up well- i was a bit bored of thrashing it so decided to head home at a sedate pace, put the CD on and had a nice comfy drive- could have stayed like that for hours.....Then got to a roundabout and decided to have one last play, put all the windows down, flew around the thing and shot of up a dual carridgeway, the thing was flying and sounded great.

Best of both worlds

Simon,

no i didn't, getting PPP was a bit of a last minute thing and wasn't confirmed until yesterday!
it then got sprung on the dealer who assumed i'd get nowhere with IM when i told him i was asking to jump the que- bottom line, there wasn't time to do the springs... next week or so hopefully.

Five Kingfishers in me, but here goes.

Some know when I got my PPP I was a little disapointed. Something has happened to my car in the last couple of weeks. Seems to have picked up the pace. Checked the boost pressure on Sat, and my dealer confirmed it yesterday.

When I went to the dealers I was expecting to borrow their std MY01. "Sorry sir sold. Here's the keys to an old shape ". Walked up to the car. Noticed the Prodrive Backbox, Recaros etc. Dealer had lent me a full WR spec 5 door MY99.

Performance wise my UK300 felt as quick if not quicker. Handling wise, understeer was back on the agenda. Rattles wise you dont even want to talk about. It was a relief to get back into my UK300. The smiles per mile are at least double.

The grapevine tells me more P1 owners are swapping their car for the new shape after a test drive. After yesterday, I can see why.

I'd like to thank my dealer for letting me drive an old shape again. Stepping back in time is not pleasant.

Any idea as to what a PPP my01 should pull in the 1/4 mile?

I just ask because i have done some basic (but well recomended) modifications to my us spec WRX, and managed a 13.51@99.98mph on a track that is over 3600 feet

Just scoobysports downpipe and mid sections, and a decat up-pipe. Only other thing is a unichip ECU i got from a US dealer.

The car pulls MUCH harder now.

Yup.

I wanted to do the brakes and suspension on my MY00, went round Bedford in the passenger seat of Pete Croney's car, and that was enough to convince me to swap for the MY01 and do the mods on that instead.

I drove my MY00 back to the dealer - everything back to standard - and was shocked to hear so many rattles and squeaks - they were drowned out by Sir Pete's exhaust before!

Update from my dealer

IM have orders for 150 and are currently on about 60-70 but there has been a problem with the availabilty of the ECU but they are hoping to continue the rollout in batches of approx 30 over the next couple of weeks

I SHOULD be in the next batch

I hope and pray

Yours very desperate

jza,

8.5

no hesitation anywhere!

for me its just what i wanted, it could be louder but then it would get "max powerish" IMHO, it could be faster but i've now got to the point where i have to use partial throttle a lot and keep watching the speedo. personaly i wouldn't want/need quicker, i had an R1 (bike) and one of the reasons i got rid of it was that i was always at 50% and that was too fast. at least with PPP i can use all the power sometimes.

Tiggs

ps- no red faces from me

Agree with you about the power - thats why i ride a lowly VFR800!!!

8.5's not bad - considering you probably havent given it the full going over!!!!

Am hasseling my dealer who claims he has ordered me a PPP but cant show me the order form or order confirmation!!!! Still not convinced - have you tried a full SS on an MY01 - how did it compare????

jza,

went in pete c's car a couple of months back, just a 5 min blast. acceleration seem similar (i think his was 244bhp, so should be about equal), hard to tell what the tourqe was like though as pete was driving, on mine its excellent, it just pulls and pulls. 2nd gear now gives a real surge forward that makes me smile every time- when you change to 3rd its still pulls where before it seemed like all the "omphh" ended at 2nd.
