Fastest Car??
Moray,
When did you get a 3.8?
Was it Datron or similar timed, or one of these DIY accelerometers which are apparently 100% accurate?
Only way to get proper acceleration times is with Datron type gear......

August 5th ~ I'll be in my little yellow Pug 205. But the other STi is likely to be there, along with ahem a "bloody quick" Cosworth and a fantastic EVO5.
Saturday 8th Sept ~ My Blackscooby will be getting an airing at Harewood
Sunday 9th Sept ~ Back in the Pug 205 GTi.
I think RUM is coming along on Sunday 5th Aug and a few others by all accounts..
Cheers
Mark

CraigH,
It was with a "DIY" Accelerometer device. The same device has proven to be accurate to within one tenth of a second at Santa Pod.
I made the run 2 up with a full tank and hit, IIRC, 3.75 seconds on the meter, so I rounded it up to the nearest tenth. Possibly I did an actual 3.85s or even 3.65s, the passenger timed it on his stopwatch and this backed up the meter. Whatever else, it was comfortably less than 4 seconds.
The car was certainly running less than 400bhp too, but I don't know how to go about proving that even with non DIY stuff.
Moray
PS: Does NAM sell Datron equipment?

Where did you see this, Jupiter?
Local gravitational constant on Earth is 9.8 m/s^2. After a 2.5s fall you would be travelling at 24.5 m/s. 24.5*(3600/1600) gives us 55 mph.

OK Carl - maybe it was 2.6123945 seconds. Then again, maybe the cliff caused a reverse thermal effect, giving some additional downforce to the mini, making it fall at 1.031 G's. Anyway - The car was a mini - It happened at the cliffs of mohair (sp) in Southern Ireland. Everyone knows that the laws of physics don't apply to mini's and don't follow the normal rules in Ireland anyway

I design IP networks for a living, and don't get much chance to use applied maths/physics, even if it is a bit rudimentary. I did put smilies in

The owner had just pulled into a carpark, executed a perfect handbrake turn, jumped out of the car and walked about three steps when it disappeared. He went from Mr Cool to Mr Jibbering Wreck in the same amount of time it took the noise to get back up the cliff.
Carl - I know you used smilies, but the fact that you took the time to work this out, or worse still, already knew it, still makes you sad

Quick question for you!!! Big estate - many collections/areas - Wouldn't the DHCP Helper server be the same for the whole collection or is that me being stupid?? Cos it makes sense

How about Sammy Miller's rocket drag car? Here's some stats:
approx 25,000 bhp
0-60 mph in 0.16 seconds
0-100 mph in 0.36 seconds
0-318 mph in 1.6 seconds
1/4 mile in 3.58 seconds at a terminal speed of 386mph (current 1/4 mile world record AFAIK)
