***** Group Buy on TSL STiV rear spoiler for Classic Impreza *****
#242
alanjack - good point i spose, but watching people who fit things for a living fettleing the holes and showing me how they apply pressure to this and that piece when fitting as well as undestanding my need to be able to possibly take the unit off the car when I sell it so explaining how to do that... id say they did a good job of fitting it as it looks good and is sat nicely on the car. The cup of tea and good banter helped as well... :-)

Finally got the car back today. Not the most efficient service but great job! Hey, you can't have everything.
Have got some before/after pics but do not know how to upload them, so if you want to see them somebody will have to tell me.
Any way I think it looks "the nuts" so am well chuffed, hope you guys are too.

Ok, so far we have:

Possibles:

I'll ask about the STi6 units but I think TSL wanted to limit this to 10+ STi5s. I'll let you know.

All being well I'll collect my car this week, there was a slight delay with the wheels, then I'll get some pics up.
Rasher, wtf! , as above it's your choice, go with what makes you happy
Is this the most number of views for a thread in the styling forum?, lets keep it going

The reason I might be selling is because I was led to believe that you could use the existing OE bolts which I can't and you probably need to drill extra holes in the boot because of the weight etc of the STI spoiler which I do not want to do. The Prodrive one only needs you to use the existing OE bolts and holes.
That is why I have asked people on this thread about the DIY fixings and any problems they have encountered in doing this..but as yet I have not had any replies..

UHF,
I got all my mirrows, rear skirts, side skirts etc painted in DBM for around £120 from my local bodyshop. Subaru were wanting to charge £260+vat!!
Now a year later, not a complaint, looks as good as new. Just try out various places for quotes.
Rasher, is your spoiler still for sale? I was thinking even it was painted in the wrong colour for my car, could I get it re-painted??
Also how is the spoiler fitted to the car. The standard one has 2 bolts each side, yes? Does the spoiler use these existing ones? Do you need to drill any more holes in the boot?
JonW, how is your spoiler fitted, seeing that you had it done at TSL?

The spoiler does use existing holes, you should then pad the middle bit along the bottom to save vibration.
BTW, my bodyshop wants £300 for rear corner bits, mirrors, side skirts and handles, sounds a bit steep now but the job he does is absolutely A1! Maybe i'll shop around.

UHF,
What did you use to pad the middle of the spoiler? Did you ONLY use the existing bolts and no addidtional ones?

I didnt do it but my bodyshop used adhesive sticky stuff to pad the middle and its secure, one down side is that they told me it would be removeable and it isnt!, like you I probably wouldnt have put it on if i'd known this before he did it, but he said i'd beable to take it off, i dont think that the spoiler comes with adequate padding to just reuse the existing bolt holes as it leaves a large expanse across the middle un supported.
