Michael,
Still haven't got mine and I live in Manchester. Should be any day now
There was a quality issue with a couple of the spoilers that is why there was a delay. They were all going out together probably Monday 2/09/02

dr. a, click here for instructions on uploading pics http://www.aviz.co.uk/imagepost/

Not sure if the 200k file size limit is still current, if they won't upload try 100k or less.

***** TSL STiV rear spoiler for Classic Impreza *****

After a good chat with TSL they are willing to do us a group buy on their STiV spoiler for the Classic Impreza (other spoilers and fitments are available but rather than muddy this group buy I suggest you call TSL for details).

The STiV spoiler is TSL's own unit manufacturerd in Japan and is a high quality version of the STiV (please see pics I will post soon for how well this unit fits the car etc.). They can supply the unit painted and fitted if required.

Ok, prices....
(All prices in British Pounds inclusive VAT unless stated)

Spoiler - Normally 293, Group Buy price 240
Postage* - Normally 20, Group Buy price 15
Painting** - 175 plus VAT
Fitting - Normally 50, Group Buy price 40

*Postage includes a specially made double wall carton designed to carry the spoiler and keep it safe during transit.

** TSL quite rightly dont want to compromise the quality of the paintjob by doing a cut price job for the group buy - If this seems expensive your local bodyshop can quote you (people tell me its usually somewhere round the 100-150 mark but you need to check)

In order for us all to get the group buy prices we need to get 10 or more people up for this.

The way i'm hoping this buy will work is that you should post your interest here and I will collate names and keep TSL updated. Once we have 10 firm customers, then people will deal directly (ie. pay and pass details etc.) with TSL who have these units in stock (was 20 last week and is now 14 - so speed might be of the essence!) and can get them to you within a few days if you choose the posting option.

What I need from people is a firm intent to go ahead and details of what you want (ie. post, paint, fitting etc) posted to this thread.

Fingers crossed we can get the 10!

cheers,
Jon.

Why would the quality of the paint job be compromised by offering a discounted price for the group buy ?

Definetly interested but would get my paintshop to paint and fit it seeing as they did such a pukka job colour coding the rest of my car. As before is it primed or not? Can we have some pics before we say for sure?

Cwal1 - I asked TSL that and they said they do it at that price and they cant offer it cheaper without cutting corners and they wont do that. They also say that their paint job will be stunning and the 'best panel on the car'.

BaldyMan - Im waiting for pix to put up from TSL, when I get them they will be posted - you could always look at the styling page on their website until then -

P1Fanatic - Im waiting for a response re. the primer / plastic question...

No problem on waiting for pictures before making decsions. I hope to post these today - I only didnt do them yet because I've not yet received them and I thought it best to get the group buy thread rolling since so many people were asking in this and other parts of the Scoobynet.

Ok, Ive spoken to TSL again.

- They will happily ship to the IOM and it would cost between 10 and 15more.

- The spoiler comes in a gelcoat that its recomended is flatted and is then ready for primer. Im told there is no prep involved just primer and paint.

Pictures are on their way - watch this space.

i draw your attention to "recomended is flatted" and "there is no prep involved just primer and paint.", so it does need preping in terms of it needs "flatted", can someone explain, my bodyshop man has quoted me a good price for spraying from primer, will this affect things, what is "flatted", am i to assume you mean "flattened" in terms of a brisk sand down with fine paper?

While you deliberate, maybe these pics will help you to decide to buy. Been on for 7 months now, not a single problem and the paint job is starting to put the rest of my bodywork to shame

Don't want to spoil the momentum here cos I was (am) interested myself, however, David Reid Motorsport will do an STI 5 or 6 rear spoiler for £350 painted +£20 carriage in the UK (this also includes the vat): that makes a total of £370.

The deal on offer from TSL is £240 STI IV? (isn't this 4) spoiler + £15 carriage + £206 (£175 +vat) to paint : that makes a total of £461!!!!

The David Reid Motorsport price is for one offs aswell not a group buy but, is a special offer on supply 'ready painted'.

Usual disclaimer here - I have no connection with DR motorsport nor do I get commission. I merely wanted to let you guys know that this may be a good deal but it's by no means the best.

Jon appreciate your efforts and don't wish to p1ss you off but I think I'll go with the David Reid option that I was already considering.

Cheers

indeed thats a better offer and comes ready painted which will save me booking the car in with the bodyshop, can someone reflect on the group buy prices because its a bit pointless if they are cheaper elsewhere, if I remember rightly Scoobyworld said that they could supply for £350 painted too, damn, I shouldnt jump so fast!

Big Ben, no worries about your post. firstly I will clarify as my notation probably isnt very clever - this is an STi 5 spoiler NOT an Sti 4.

As for the DR motorsport unit, I agree its a very cheap price and I have mentioned this to TSL and other retailers when I was looking into this and everyone advised me to look at the whole picture, ie spoiler quality, fit, paint quality, longevity and company profile.

I dont want to diss any company or their products but in my looking round I decided to go with TSL because they offer a solid quailty product (as evidenced by lots of people on this board), the unit is very close in size/shape to the original STi5 and most people couldnt tell the difference, they offer these units ready to ship immediatly as they have them in stock, they will paint and fit them if we desire, ive never heard of a fitting or cracking problem with this unit, they have been in scooby circles for some time and have a reputation to uphold, the unit price on its own i believed to be very attractive - you could flat it and do it with cans and have it on your car for less than 275 if you wanted...

From my own point of view I reckon that sometimes its better to get a better deal on expensive, recomended kit than just go for the cheapest.

Jon.
