I got stopped doing 83 in a 40 a couple of weeks ago. It was a long straight road, not in a built up area with no one else about. In my opinion it should have been at least a 50, but that's not the point. I argued with the guy who stopped me for a bit and got let off with a slap on the wrist! 
I was in my Smart Car though - I think he thought it funny that I could do 83, let alone that I was!
