Not trying to put a downer on it but is it really any more secure than any other product on the market? The technology has been around for quite a while so it's nothing new...

Every other car has got an immobiliser now, so rather than reinventing it, perhaps try taking security to the next step?

That's what I would do...

Good idea, but fundamentally flawed by having a back door.

as moray says, back door is weakest link.

keypad is vulnerable.

what you really want is something that ****** your finger and only lets you go with a dna fingerprint of your blood type, either that or give it a swab from inside your cheek!

regardless, its the immobilisation points which are normally circumvented. The transponder keys themselves can have more combinations than there are fingerprints in the world, so why bother apart from the conveniance of never losing your key (unless very unlucky).

PS. if you are into ingenuity, I know a great patent agent!

Like I said before practicaly everything has it's flaws:
Keys - Could be lost / stolen
Fobs - Could be lost / stolen / malfunction/ flat battery

etc, etc, the list could go on. I know that these devices are not perfect, but then again nor is any other security device on the market today. The idea of this device is to be in place with an alarm and existing immobiliser to provide as much security as possible. The only way which you may be able to overcome these devices is get a copy of the registered persons "print", which you could do with any key, but this is a bit harder than it seems and may not even work with our device as these have not even been made yet, so we can implement many different features.

Regards,
Lee

Sounds good but you havent responded to the many quotes from security advisors who have managed to circumvent these things with selotape and gummy bears etc.
I don't know of any major companys using these things yet becuase there just not secure enough yet.

It should work along side anything as it will be a independant immobiliser, we are hopefully trying to get this approved from Thatcham.

I'm sorry "Mr Scooby" but you're either winding everyone up here or you need a "Check up from the neck up". Judging from your absent profile and a general analysis of your sketchy business idea, I would recommend you take your money down to Ladbrokes. This must be the biggest load of crap I've ever heard on this forum. I know it's only a wind up though and good luck to you, it's nice to see a sense of humour !

Finaly, I have had word back from Thatcham, they can "Test" the immobiliser but it costs a mega fortune. So it looks like we are going to need the backing of a larger company or an investor.

If anyone is interested... Just reply

MrScooby

Im a Industrial Product designer and iv done some designing along these line.
iv got some ideas you can work along or allow me to join your team, if you are interested send me a email. im based in Birmingham where about are you?

Ray

ps. just a starting idea but the sensor can be styled as a 'push start button' and doubled as a push start button aswel. so you turn the key then you press the butten as you do so it reads your finger print.

I've been playing with fingerprint readers to control access to PCs. Seems to work well, does what it says on the box, and costs around £90.

Why should the same technology cost £500 for your car? Get the price to under a hundred quid and you'd sell thousands

Colin.

The reason why the PC ones are under £100 is because the software the readers depend on is stored in the PC. So when the readers are intergrated into cars you don't have a PC in the car, so they have to have their own harware with CPU and memory storage area, with properly written programs and all this costs alot of money to develop. No doubt that once we get these into mass production the cost will come down, but certainly not under £100.
