A "large cancer charity" asked my parents for money when an elderly relative was dying of cancer. My Dad went to see them and although the offices for the directors, managers and admin were lovely, the actual laboratories were clearly in need of funding!!!
Ethics?
They didn't get a donation!
As for the other examples. Bugger Africa, The middle east and Arabian countries. All they ever do is kill,sell, fight each other, and then hold the hands out for aid from the 1st world countries. Hope that bloody asteroid hits them!

Just wanted to say what a great read this thread is! I don't have any strong opinions on anything which has been said because I don't know enough about it.
I do however, believe that we should look at ourselves before helping others. The money spent on helping third world countries could be spent on prisons and harder punishment for crimes etc.. I am sick and tired of hearing stories of people being beaten up or killed because some scumbag wants what they have and will take it no matter what.
And the other day, I hear that immigrants are to be given private health care??? This country is far too soft!! (Sorry off-topic!)

I too and sick to death of hearing about how WE have step in and save the entire third world from starvation.
I for one do not like to be manipulated into feeling guilty by the media showing pictures of starving children. Yes, I know it's happening but it's by their own hand and their dictator leader.
How on earth can you solve the problem when they go forth and multiply ten fold.
Showing a scene of starving children, followed by a woman with a family of nine children all under 8 just makes me mad !
