I am currently witnessing the most evil thunderstorm I have ever heard or seen.
The lightning is so strong, that the whole room is lighting up, and the thunder is VERY VERY loud!!!!
Car and house alarms going off everywhere!!!

We had a bad storm last night. Lasted from about 6:30 to 9:30. Some very close strikes
I remember watching a storm out of the bedroom window one year. There was a really close CG and I felt a slight electric shock from the metal window handles, a bit like a large static shock (which it was I suppose)...
Que interesting "Thunderstorm / Lighting" tales..

Still here - storm has passed now. I am based on the Lancs/Yorks border, in between Burnley and Skipton
Was a good un
I remember watching a violent storm about 10 years ago now, which ended up destroying a farm and a barn about 2 miles from my house. The lightning was so strong it was hitting the floor, and you could feel the vibrations in the house - I managed to get a quality pic of one of the forks, but not sure where it is now

The hurracaine of the 90's took out 20odd trees on the farm I grew up on and picked up the roof of the barn whole and carried is about 1000yards and dropped it.. it stayed in one piece.. left the old landrover untouched in the barn to get wet then..
Also removed lots of roof tiles off the farm house roof like they were playing cards..
We had no electricity for 2weeks after that! nearest neighbour was 1/2mile away, and I think we were low priority to get reconnected..

Only problem is, it has affected my ADSL connection for the last 2 hours. Keep being disconnected, and have rebooted at least 4 times
Going away now though, sun is coming out

Heard a few bits of thunder, but that's about it. Could be doing with a good thunderstorm though - v muggy
However, the fire alarm just went off in one of our other buildings - and there are now about 600 people standing about outside in the pi55ing rain

It has just belted down raindrops the size of melons
Thunder so loud it would rival thge BPM exhaust and lightening brighter than Cibies
also disconnected me Which IU wasn't happy about, now it is sunny (and I am re-connected )

Mine is still disconnecting - literally every 2 minutes, but Pipex reckon it is the thunder - I can still here it in the distance so it is still around

Had a hell of a storm in Milton Keynes last night - 2 1/2 hours solid, with lightning strikes at least every 10 seconds.
House lights were flickering, and the sockets tripped out twice.
But my Pipex ADSL connection stayed up throughout. (My PC and ADSL modem are on a UPS)
Maybe the problem was at your end, DW? If the mains drops out for a fraction of a second, your modem would probably get spiked.

At least some of you guys down south have had a bit of decent weather recently.
I have a suggestion that if we put the word round and ask people to grab a hold of something solid outside like a tree or railing.
On the count of three we all take a small jump south. The process is then repeated.
We should be round about Tenerife a fortnight next Tuesday!!
(Note to self;Need to stop sniffing octane booster)
