Smile

sounds a perfectly normal reaction...

oh yeah...

Small car=attitude problem or small pen15
wouldn't agree with that, after taking my little fiesta all the way to the ring with the lads, i'm sure none of them think i've an attitude problem... as for my pen15, well, i dunno.... and neither do any of them! but my missus has never complained...

LOL ox' brilliant

Don't worry DRef' no offense taken, I'm up for the group buy but it depends how quickly it all happens as I'm going on holiday soon for 3 weeks and I don't even have the other bits I need, i.e. de-cat. Also, the car is getting a 30k service today and needs pads This is gonna hurt soooooo bad!

Don't worry king there are plenty of ******* ways around the $hity system that stops you swearing like a b@stard Until mods, edit it out that is

Lemme know how much you're paying for the service and who you're going with SB. Would like to know what kind of after-sales service and attention you get.
Mine's due soon an' all.

It's with Nobles at Pencuik and I'm about to go get her. They told me it needed new pads when I was sure it didn't. Trying to catch them out by asking for the old ones back 'for a few laps on a track just to finish them off' The way I look at it, if they have good life I can re-use them and I've caught Nobles out and if they are sha99ed then they were telling the truth. Will report back

No one is having a go at you, so take your flame suit off... the other thread is :
'You won't believe me - you'll get angry - but I'm going to say it anyway' thread of a couple of days ago where you were on about people shaking their fists at you after overtaking.... that thread...

see you cause trouble so often you can't even remember (joke! before you go off on one)

You can tell how much pad material there is without taking the wheel off. If you want new pads you can get Jurad pads (spelling?) from a motor factor which I believe are the same - T-uk will keep you right he got some cheap for road use. If there is a safe amount of material left you have time to sort them, and fit them yourself if you are confident. If not I'm sure someone at Knockhill after a track day would give you a hand with them and then you can DIY your own pads and discs in future and save a wad of cash. These cars are expensive enough to run, but if you start to DIY the simple things it is a lot easier. Because I did the brakes myself (just put uprated pads and discs on), Nobles charged me 1 instead of 2 hours labour for my 15000 service.

<flame suit put back in cupboard till next time>

We checked the wrong side sipie the caliper on the other side had been sticking and sure enough the pads on one side were ok but the others shafted. The service cost me £505 all in for a 30k and new pads and I was happy with the service given. The seal on the window requires the entire window to be taken out and put back in so is best left. The guy suggested I *ahem* accidently break the window *ahem and claim for the insurance at £50 should the seal get any worse. I think I'll have a go with the ol' superglue in the meantime as it's only a little bit thats not sitting flush.

At my request they also reported back on the cars condition and he said there is no way it has been crashed and that the panel resprays would have been for scratch or minor dent damage as it was still the original panels. This accords with what the garage that sold the car to Alan told me as they believed it had been vandalised (scum) when the first owner had it.

All in all I'm generally pleased, the car is serviced as it should be and needed to be and I know the condition of all the consumables. All I need now is to get my ice fitted, load up the beers and I'm off on my hols

I remember that thread now. In that case I was having some harmless 'I love my new scooby' fun and some old bag took exception to it. I guess the only way you can be sure you won't hack off other drivers is to go for a country run at 2 in the morning....but then you'll probably end up with wildlife coming through the bonnet

Thumbs up

Good news Kenny.. Glad all sorted (apart from the superglue bit...!)

John

Great advice and it's something I need to get my finger out & start doing myself. Have always been a bit nervous when it comes to brakes...! but as you say, 'will save a heap of cash. Looking to replace discs soon, so will take the plunge...

Thanks

This is great: Sipie attempts disk and pad change.....sipie screws up and has to shell out £100s to get rectified....sipie learns from his mistakes and changes saxo's disks and pads as and when required in exchange for beer tokens

This IS great news... SiPie's discs will last loger than Kenny's as he will wear/warp his silly up North. Kenny will find a scoobymate to assist him changing his upon his return (as he's now too skint following service cost...!!) as SiPie watches closely...
