Will MY01 WRX's have to be taken to Prodrive by their owners as the price has reduced, or does the £1600 cover transport by the local dealerships ?
To be honest I'd rather take it there myself and enjoy the drive home

The £2000 never did include the cost of transportation to Prodrive

The drivability of the standard engined car with PPP is superior to the P1.
This fact is widely acknowledged!

Scooby - that's a statement and a half....have you driven both?!
As I recall the PPP has more torque low down, but by 5k the P1/STi variants are ahead and stay that way.
Re. the exhuast noise; nice, isn't it! Sounds like extreme air-to-air violence. I'd love to know how long the designers had to 'tune' it to get it just so!

mmmmm.... I had a 'modded' MY99 PPP (downpipe, straight through centre, induction kit, SS BB, intercooler 'splitter') and drove it back to back with a P1. The 'drivability' advantage sub-5000 rpm was definitly in my car's advantage, 3rd gear 'grunt' acceleration made the dealer who's P1 it was swear many time
, but once the P1 is at c5500rpm it had the advantage over the PPP.
All in all mine was faster, just, but also had 40/50hp up on the standard PPP! But the 'low-mid-range' advantage of the PPP is nulified by the 'high-mid-range' and rev-hungry nature of the P1.
Also drove a STi4 with similar mods to mine (330hp) that was similarly rev hungry, but felt a lot faster

The operative word here gentlemen is "drivability".
Sub 5000RPM being where the majority of owners operate their machines for the majority of the time.
If it were pure ***** out high revving stuff, then I would probably favour another marque entirely.

Completely agree with you - thats what prodrive do best -improve the drivability with bags more torque.
Just look at the low rev figures - wicked stuff. I commute in my car - that grunt equals fantastic overtaking ability - thats what im after - not a high reving car. Ill settle for second to the STI and P1 people when i do the odd track day.
According to Pete Croney, the old PPP responded well to a new downpipe - so it should be interesting to see what a combination of both will do.
I just spoke to my insurance company - and they wont insure a PPP!!!! Any one recommend a PPP freindly insurer?

Hi JZA
I got mine through A-Plan (01494 677776).
They got me a quote so competitive that when I was ringing around other insurers some of them refused to even look up how much they could do me for!!!!
PS: I had mine fitted also as part of GregHs deal - and it really is as fantastic as everyone says! I can only describe it as feeling as I did when I got my first scoob! All of a sudden I keep going out for drives again - especially when theres no need ;-) And the noise is fantastic!
I'va already emailed him but thanks again to Greg for organising it!

I have had a MY99 PPP with a falkland d/p and ITG filter on my car for over a year and can say there is not much out there that can humble my car.....also out of personnal experience, against a well run in P1 with a upgraded back box...there was not much in it on accelaration and right to the top end....in fact my car always had a very slight edge....even at the top end.....
The only problem with this car is what can i possibly get next.........

Damn !!! Now you've done it again !!! I'm gonna have to stop visiting this site, or I'm gonna be broke pretty soon.
Have had my Scooby for 3 weeks, and feel that I will get the PPP inspalled in it ...
But I have a question though... How hard is it to install ? I'm asking because the official importer in Portugal doesn't have the most competent mechanics I know of, and I am scared of portuguese amateurship taking over.
So, how hard is it to put in ? Is it a process of take one out, put one back in (Like a Lego), or are there more complicated things to do ?
By the way, where can I get a list of what mods are done when installing a PPP ?
Thanks guys, and keep having fun ! Love the spirit of this site !

Just to say that I am also delighted with the results of having the PPP on my car. (98 MY Wagon) Since having it fitted I have also noted a much better spread of torque and the fact the car now pulls all the way up to the red line. I also think the engine is smoother - this was also noticed by a regular passenger in my car and as Greg has already mentioned the car starts more easily and my car now starts after a stall. Very glad I have had this fitted.
I would firstly like to thank Greg for organising the group buy and secondly to Mike Wood and others at Prodrive who looked after me while I was there.
Regards
Robin
