Leave the paint be mate. Clean it, wash it but careful about burning through. I'm looking at a respray, paint is costing way more than it should and I've been doing a lot of the work. No getting around the current prices of paint.
Lets play a fun game, this tin of paint will paint 100 cars inside and out but we are gonna make sure it covers all cars we send worldwide. Subaru probably.

Had a photo shoot booked yesterday but it absolutely lashed down. I’d given it a good detail so still took it out to grab a couple of shots on the phone. The shoot has been moved to next week now. I gave the wheels a deep clean during the week, took ages and is a laborious job but they came out very well and should have good protection moving forward too. Here’s a few pics…

Some of you may have already seen these pictures flying around on social media, but for those that haven't, here's a rare sight.
The weekend before last I'd arranged to meet with another Spec C Type RA owner to get some pictures of the 2 of them together. With only 300 of these cars leaving the factory and only for the Japanese market, getting 2 together in nearly 20 years later in the south of England is quite a feat. Unfortunately it absolutely chucked it down and the photographer cancelled on us, so these are just a few phone pics that we took.
We did rearrange with the photographer though and did another shoot this weekend. It ended up being quite special, pictures to follow once they are ready....

A few shots from a couple of weeks ago at a local static car meet. I've been neglecting the RA a bit recently with all the time I'm spending working on the Frank, so it was nice to get out in it.
Marmite Varis kitted hatch. I liked it
Very clean Nissan Sunny!

It is an incredibly clean car and I'm glad a took the plunge and bought it when I did as I probably couldn't afford one now! Even in this stock form it's a maniac on the road, it doesn't need anymore power as it's always putting a smile on my face.
I want to adjust the rear ARB as it's on the stiffest setting and the back end is always trying to come round on the country roads. That's a simple job I've just been busy with the other one this year.
Hoping to do a few shows with it next year if family commitments allow and will be giving it a service in the next month or so.

I did mention previously about a rather special photo shoot that I had been a part of, but then left you hanging when I didn't post any pictures.
Well here you go!
It took a lot of planning to get the 3 cars together. I have to thank Danielle for choosing a great location and getting some superb pictures (the crap pictures were taken on my phone), check out her instagram @obscura_images. I'd also like to thank Andy (IG: @white_type_ra) and Rob (IG: @specctypera) for making time for the shoot. All 3 cars have subtle differences but remain true to their origins. Enjoy.

Pulled the RA out of hibernation and filled up the tank ready for fresh oil, filters and belts this week. Took Frank for a little spin afterwards too.

Haven't done much with the car at all this year other than a couple of coffee mornings so not much to update. I did change the disks a pads a couple of weeks back though. There was loads of meat on the old ones and the new setup still feels a bit wooden so will need to change the fluid which ill do at the weekend if I have a chance. Decided to go with the DBA T2 and PFZ pads again. Much less hassle working on this car because everything is so clean, no seized bolts or rust to contend with. Managed to do both sides with 2 cups of tea in between and taking some pictures in under 1h45m. (forgot to take a picture before putting the wheels back on though!). I intend on giving it a full detail and wax when I get around to it and it's now booked in to have a full underside deep clean and clear wax underseal in May. It's very handy having a working garage again as i don't have to do everything on the same day!

I have been dragging my heels recently with this car as I've had the other one to drive around in. It's barely been out of the garage this year so I decided to pull my finger out and get if ready for my first meet of the year at the weekend.
First on the agenda was to flush the brake fluid. I'd changed the front disks and pads but it still felt really wooden so I flushed out the old stuff and changed it for Motul 600. The difference was night and day so now the brakes work as they should.
Next up was to loosen off the adjustable Cusco ARB. The car is really stiff and I hadn't really noticed until I started driving the other one which is much more supple and predictable. The bar has 3 settings and it was set to full hard, I moved it back to the softest setting which is much better on the road. If it ends up feeling a bit too soft then I'll move it to the middle setting. While I was under there I thought I may as well change the drop links too as I have no record of them being changed.
Once it was back on the ground I treated it to a polish and a coat of the soft99 Fusso coat wax. It was really easy to use and looks fantastic.

Gave it a quick clean after a 500+km round trip to Curborough last weekend, then took it out to get dirty again. Did I ever mention previously that I love this car!

Sent the car to CSK Automotive in Buntingford for an underside decontamination and clear wax underseal. Very happy with the results and would use them again without hesitation.

As I mentioned previously, I've really not used this car much this year at all (around 1k miles), I will be driving over to Castle Combe for Rallyday 2022 next weekend though.
It's been in the garage for more than 2 months while I was out of the country for the summer so I disconnected the trickle charger and pulled it out for a quick wash; the Fusso wax is still doing a great job!
After the weekend I'll give it another oil change before it's MOT and then it goes back in the garage for the winter.
