Quick update, car went in to Road To Race LTD for the aligment/wieghting near bedford, shaurn came to the conclusion before he could do it,that the rear coilovers were in need of regassing/service.So theyve been sent off to Leda for a service(turns out to be a £480 rebuild).,due back next week.Like all upgrades the money set aside is never on budget.
Collected car today, weighs 1250kgs with half tank fuel and back seat out only.back end lifted 10mm.Need to get out on track now to see how it all feels,if not happy with new set up things will be adjusted, roll on new year for track action
How did you manage to get so much front camber, with stock top mounts?
Did you manage to change to camber plates at the front, in the end - or camber bolts? Or, are your front strut mounting holes slotted?
Be interesting as to how you find that alignment.
Be nice to get some more caster - pin flip and spacers.
Evening,I thought id get asked some questions,I cant answer.I offered him both sets of top mounts, just in case he had anything kicking around enabling their use. But not used,so sitting in the box ready to send to you,pm me your address. He asked for as much info about the car/driving style to help with setting up,( he has even read this thread,as your input has been important,to get where were at).MAKES A CHANGE.His company is Road To Race LTD,have a look on facebook, equipment all new. I can message and ask him,or if youve got more questions message him.Cheers
Evening,I was too,but ended up gutted.Explaination:Arrived, briefing done on line the night before,so basically straight into 3 sighting laps at 9am. Car fine/felt good.Checked tyres deflated to 29psi,back out for warm up session, car felt better all round with each lap, flatter on braking and through the corners and better balanced where I pointed it,came in after 15minutes.Very happy.Parked up leaving engine running for it to cool down, pulled the bonnet, walked round the front to open the bonnet and the front looked like it had a nose bleed out of one nostril.I was hoping it was the red antifreeze, but it was power steering oil.Dripping on the floor and lifting the bonnet it had sprayed oneside on the underside of the bonnet. On further inspection the power steering returning cooling pipe, across the front of the radiator,on the u-bend part had now a hole.In fairness it was corroded, but in 30+ trackdays Ive never had as much as a drip or had to top it up/other than when I changed it.Maybe the upgrades had had put extra pressure on it.On making a call I could have bypassed it by using the u-bend pipe, but that had the hole in.So that was the end of my day.Speaking to one or two people appariently Subaru/People did away with them, and for the little I do ,it shouldnt be a problem. But will keep an eye on it.Car now up and running,Im on the reserve list for Donnington on Tuesday next week or the following Monday, otherwise Im booked into Snetterton on 26th.Thanks for the Interest and advice(ps,you were going to PM your address so I can send the camber plates). Cheers
Evening, quick update.Went to Snetterton last week for an evening, everything felt good,a bit more vibration could be seen on top of dash/interior plastic(minor) when going on latter end of straights(not an issue/car stiffer as not noticed before).Definately quicker though fast corners and able to overtake on the outside of Corram, without feeling the cars momentum pushing me out wide. So definately flatter and stiffer, money well spent.Only trouble is Ive blown the engine,30 plus trackdays/evenings on the same engine I cant complain,so now Im on the lookout for a newage ej20 either rebuilt with low mileage with track orienated upgrades,so already run in(reicept for build) or will have to get rebuilt..Looking for something around 330bhp as have 5 speed/tmic/V35 turbo.Have trackdays booked from May 20th so would prefer something already run in.Off to wanted section.Cheers
new-age 'long' engine (or any ph2 99>) has the wrong heads, etc to work
swap your heads and ancills onto a good short engine would be my preference or simply rebuild yours to suit
Thanks for the reply, will have to continue this in General Technical, engne was already an API rebuilt a newage sti ej20,with 03/04 ecu and loom conversion.
