Not done much with the car lately other than enjoy it in its current spec, but I did get invited to Officially Gassed’s OG Battles to put my car up against 3 other Subarus. It was a generation battle and consisted of a 500bhp stripped GC8 track car, a 540bhp 1300kg Blobyeye time attack car, a 580bhp full weight Hatch and my full weight VA. I can’t post the results until the video has gone live but I’m VERY pleased with how the car performed.

It sounded like a lot of fun, it's always nice seeing how your car fares against similar powered cars, you can then do possible future tweeks based on how it went and felt etc

Yeah it was interesting considering there was a car weighing 200kg less than mine with similar power but a lot less torque. I would've thought that it would walk me, but the torque certainly made it interesting.

Just seen it, that roll race makes no sense tbh.
Drag race was nice ,shame blob jumped on last race.
You had perfect launch before last.
Enginetuner engine went again, she had good launches but Your map/engine ,overall setup, gear switching shine later through a race.
Well done ,fast, good looking and reliable car.
Would like to see fresh builds of Jamie typeR integra vs Enginetuner typeR sti

Haven’t updated this for a while, but I’ve made a few changes to the car recently so better get them logged down here in the interests of keeping this current.

I started to experience some clutch slip on the Competition Clutch Stage 3 single plate, but to be fair, dealing with over 600ftlbs and dozens of drag launches I’m impressed with just how much abuse it took. But it was time to bite the bullet and sort a decent twin plate clutch, so I decided on an Xtreme Rigid Organic Twin Plate. This was fully fitted on my driveway with much sweating and cursing lol!

I also wanted to try and push the standard location envelope, so decided to fit an FP Black (internally wastegated with the smaller 8cm) housing. A quick map tweak and the results were 550bhp and 565lbft on oump fuel and 602bhp and 625lbft on 30% meth. I must say, for a GT35 based turbo the response is extremely good, I expected it to be far laggier!

Very nice, looks like You maxed out standard turbo location.
Think worth to put billet gearbox pitch mount from torque solution, beatrush ,perrin etc.
Just noticed did You remove ac unit?

I have uprated engine and gearbox mounts so the pitch stop is largely redundant. I do already run a Group N pitch stop, but it’s not needed. Billet one will do nothing other than add noise.

Yes, I removed the AC as it was getting warm on a track day due to having such a large intercooler and then the aircon rad all in front of the radiator.

I have hardrace engine and gearbox mounts on mine to,did not drive Your car than can not say ,all I know it makes a difference on mine scoobs with or without engine/ gearbox mounts.
GroupN is still rubber changes close to nothing vs oem.
Doubt You will hear/feel more NVH with what You got already fitted.
I like it ,think it's best upgrade for a money for scoobs.

I’ve fitted a number of different mount combinations on my car, this is the best I’ve found to work. I had all solid mounts at one point and that was horrendous. I’ve got multiple videos of my car on the dyno and the engine doesn’t move with what I’m using now.

Really impressive Danjo and it was good meeting you when you came down to pick up the FP turbo, i'm glad you hit the targets you were after, thats an impressive graph with the power curve, i bet she's a bit of an animal when you want her to be, that engine bay looks so clean, neat and tidy but i wouldn't expect anything less from yourself, great work.

Thanks for the kind words Gordy, and it was nice to see you too. Thanks for the good deal on the turbo, it’s a shame you never got the chance to use it, but it’s a lovely bit of kit. Very responsive for something that can deliver 600+. She certainly goes well now, it’s a very usable power band.

Had a slight issue with the car last weekend. Well two actually, the first was a dead wideband, but that’s fairly common in cars using the Bosch LSU Adv wideband, they are very sensitive to thermal shock. I’ve been through three in the last year and a half, a friend with a 700bhp car has been through even more! Luckily I’ve found a supplier who can do them pretty cheaply so always have a spare.

The second issue was more serious, and more awkward! I noticed a smell of oil when stopping at traffic lights but couldn’t see where it was coming from. After jacking the car up and having a good look round underneath I finally found it. The AVCS/ turbo oil feed line had a tiny crack in it. I’m assuming swapping over a few turbos recently and tightening, loosening the oil feed line has stressed the metal oil feed oil and it’s finally failed, it’s a common problem with these. Luckily I had a solution. When fitting the FP Black I blocked off the standard oil feed and ran an oil feed line directly from the rear oil galley, something that’s important when using a large journal bearing turbo like this.

This meant I could simply run a -4an oil line and 2 x 12mm banjo fittings from the rear of the head to the AVCS solenoid, and then I blocked off the feed on top of the head and all was well again, no leaks!

Also, here’s a picture of the 602bhp / 625lbft printout for anyone interested. It such a wide useable power band for such a big turbo, and I’m making 560bhp by 4.5krpms. It’s barely any laggier than the GT30 based turbos I was using beforehand.

Forgot to update that I’d changed the wheels too, decided I fancied a change to black as it matches the rest of the black accents on the car, so settled on a set of Motegi MR147’s in flat black. Wheel specs are 18x8.5 et35 and are flush fitment. Finished off with a set of Rallyarmor mud flaps to keep stone chips at bay.

Gordy, it's Rob lol ....... I'm just glad the turbo went to a genuine enthusiast like yourself, like i said when you came for me it wasn't about the money, it was just a shame that a great turbo was just sat in the box doing nothing since it came back from Owen Developments, and it would have been great if someone was using it rather than it just being sat here. I'm just happy that you hit your targets and it sounds like it's even better than you thought it would be with the way it delivers the power, it makes me feel happy that i made a good choice when i decided to go for an FP black with how it's performing for you.
