Love those wheels, are they the standard spec c ones.
do you have a graph of your remap?
as you know I'm getting a hatch so just wanna see when spool up starts etc.
I'm getting bored waiting for it so I can at least pretend looking at a graph.ha ha.
Hope your back heals.
will you go back to surfing or not sure yet ?

I haven't even had a dip since it happened in July; it's tricky finding the right day in winter to get back in, because it's like beginning again, and at 55 its frigging hard to build muscle back after a lay off. I won't lie, my confidence took a beating as well as my spine, so waves that were nothing to me seem like monsters now! Just got to get back on the horse.
sorry, wrong way up

Thanks for that, what rpm do you feel turbo kicking in.
I'm not really fussed about bhp or top end but low down grunt.
How do you find the 6 speed which I assume is lower gearing 1 to 5 compared to UK.
I've had various injuries over the years but no crushed vertebrae thank goodness.
I've had a bad lower back from too much cycling in the current lockdown so I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to do what you want.
What I've done though is to just do different things, which is actually why I started cycling more because I couldn't go swimming or play racketball during lockdown.
but then I did it so much it caused an injury.
are you doing anything else?
Walking etc?

The gear ratios are perfect for me, fine on a long trip, and awesome on a hoon; 3rd and fourth are spot on. Possibly the biggest surprise you'll get is the steering rack ratio. Again, its spot on.
Exercise wise, I'm trying to be disciplined and doing 2 physio sessions of stretches a day, with some weights, but the building work keeps me fairly active. Plus a dog walk. I should get out on the mountain bike, but don't! I used to swim 3 miles + a week, but there's only the sea here, so not very inviting now. My kids will be back at Christmas, and say they will force me out on the bike when they run. I need it aerobically for those wave hold downs. But realistically, things won't really be the same again, for starters I'm 2" shorter now!!

Well you sound sorted for getting yourself back to health.
I currently own a twinscroll jdm legacy but trading it in for hatch.
I really like the the early spool and driveability of the td04 but do miss the punch of a bigger turbo.
I think the 04 jdm legacy gt is probably the fastest spooling subaru out of the factory.
it has its own specific bellmouth/downpipe so quite difficult to easily upgrade and also I think the highest compression ratio for an ej series engine.
Which again adds to the brilliant throttle/turbo response .
Great response but runs out of puff rapidly.

The BL/BP 2.0L 5MT "high power" turbo'd Legacy has the same 280Ps ej20Y engine (as against the "normal" 5AT turbo models with the 245Ps ej20X engine (VF38) -similar to 205/207designations for WRX/STI Imprezas) and twinscroll TD04HAL turbo across all RHD markets- not just JDM and was used in GT, GTX,GTB and GTS models.(AFAIK not imported/brought into the UK by Subaru UK but available in Australia??).
The down pipe arrangement is the same as used for the later Hawkeye and Hatch/Saloon Imprezas with the mid joint flush with base of the first cat and slightly angled.
Hatch/Saloon

Good info don.
from searching for a decat downpipe for the bp,I found that the only off the shelf one is for the wrx-s which has the same flange.
from my understanding autos got vf38 and manual got td04hlta.
There is one guy who went down the upgrade route on uk legacy.com.
you can get hks downpipes but again expensive, 2nd hand and also different mounting points for auto or manual.

That's along the lines of your red and yellow don't mix, i agree btw, if that had been world rally blue i'd have been on the phone to them.
I'm reading through this thread at the min, some stunning pics mate of both the car and scenery, i felt for you having to clean that rust and grime off, it looked a big job, this is the only problem with our climate and JDM cars, they don't really mix.

This is the kind of crap that sits in the side skirts
The missing stud is one that snapped, if anyone knows the part number. A bigger problem was on the front wheel arch, where the metal tag on the wing, which holds the liner in place, snapped off. I'm not sure what to do about that, as it secures the edge of the liner.
I wonder if it might make sense for you to refit some ( Black- Anti Mac'd comment ) mud flaps to reduce this and prevent the sand /spray up the sides of the car.
If you have not done so already to fit the protective rubber trim to the lip of the arches . One side of mine is missing , and I see suddenly that on that side the paint is literally being abraded off , so must sort it.
wish you full recovery.

Noticed this happening on my car over the winter and although its not been a big issue for before I started driving in Cornwall UK again. I now wash the arches /side skirt out with hose after every wet trip out.

I'd say using heat rather than a specific product and take your time, you need to heat the glue up and make it tacky which should allow you to start moving it off.

Hedgie got back to me via pm, so I’m nearly finished the drivers side.
Was going well until I got to the plastic sill cover! What a PITA, but you’re right I only used heat to remove the vinyl, so I’ll try using a bit more heat on the glue and see if it shifts it quicker.
Using the orange plastic ‘blades’, some goo gone and tar remover. Did have to resort to using a Stanley blade on the thicker stuff on the sill cover though.
