I actually like the look of rally flaps but they are a pain I the ****! I used to have a classic with them fitted but be careful reversing up a hill or up a kurb as you will run them over and rip them off!

I didn't really use mine this year mate I think i did about 100 miles in it hopfully get some use out of it next year!
He sold the mk4 golf that we build for almost 9k (crazy money I know) and bought another mk7 golf R.
As you know he was underwhelmed by his first "R" but this one we fitted all the stage 2 hardware and had it mapped by R tech and he loves it!
My other son also now has a stage 2 Golf R aswell both are running just over 400bhp.
making me want an estate one for my daily now 🤣

happy days mate 👍👍

my good mate has a stage 2 golf r and I couldn’t believe how quick it was off the mark!! Us Subaru owners wouldn’t stand a chance off the mark imo….that acceleration with the dsg is something else…how do you think it compares to your beast off the mark?

Both my boys cars are manual if launching my car would be quicker but maybe not a DSG one? Not launching they would probably be off the line quicker as I'm a bit laggy from the get go but then I would smoke them🤣👍

Hello team Subaru…my car is due a mini service and I’m thinking about having a go at it myself…there’s plenty of help on here and on YouTube which has gave me the confidence to do it…if I mess it up I will get it trailered to my Manchester mechanic ( the reason I’m not going to my mechanic is because of timing, work etc..I’m far too busy)

oil change
oil filter
coolant change
new hoses
new thermostat

as it’s my first time I’m a little nervous but is it straight forward? Thanks

Just came back off a mental wellness break, was much needed.

You've been quiet though mate, haven't heard from you in months, hope you're good.

The oil filters have a habit of sticking and not coming out easy. Use a filter tool, I use the ones with loop/strap that tightens, makes it so much easier.

im fine…. not using the Subaru much but I’m only a 450bhp turbocharger away from getting the power increased. I don’t have £1700 lying around at the moment 😭 got all the other items.

how you getting on with your car mate?

Money is always the issue mate.....................then it will be a remap for all the extra power hungry mods.

Tried starting it the other week and she wanted to fire, sounded so good. Then realised the ecu wasn't plugged in after we did some wiring lol. Theres 3 different pins on the ecu side that need changing but can't work out exactly where they need to be moved to. I should put up a thread but I'm just being lazy lol. Will try again in the new year.

You'll be fine Dave. Just make sure you have an oil filter removal tool as Nossy says. Don't forget to replace the crush washer on the sump plug either. Just give me a text if you get stuck at any point.

I’ve got a brand new new sump plug..should a crush washer be included with that or will I have to buy separate?

I can certainly see the benefits to the fumoto drain valves but I have Some questions about the fumoto drain valves (please go easy if I say anything daft)

1. there’s no magnetic benefit like with a normal sump plug?
2. they look similar to the way valves operate in the gas and plumbing industry so any problems with them leaking?
3. how do you manage to torque them up or don’t you?

  1. Is the sump plug magnetic?? UPDATE: Just checked it's not.
  2. It's a ball valve - has never leaked
  3. Never torqued it when moved between cars. Sometimes have added an extra washer to allow positioning.

GOOD NEWS 👍👍

I’m here to cheer your Friday evening up my fellow enthusiasts…my car got a fresh 12 months MOT today…my 18 year old uk Subaru is in fine health for the time being…A little bit of surface rust on the subframe to focus on but it’s hardly alarming…my old girl will be getting A+ service to keep her nice and healthy

Hello team Subaru…decided to service my car myself, never done it before unlike most you Neanderthals on here…I know it’s only a oil and filter change but it’s quite daunting when it’s your first time…here’s some pictures….

bits required

engine warmed up for a couple minutes from stone cold t

car jacked up

drain plug and oil filter removed

whilst the oil is draining I Had a little clean and filled the filter up until it was full….also rubbed oil on the seal

cleaned up the oil filter, oil filter area and fitted a brand new fuji racing sump plug, cleaned up the area too

dropped the car back down and added the millers engine oil

disconnected the crank sensor and let it turn over for a good few seconds

Reconnected the sensor and started the car up, let it get up to temperature and watched like a hawk!!

Next weekend I’m changing the coolant, coolant hoses and thermostat..will take pictures again. Thanks 👍

Will change mine soon to ,this time i will use Lidl elctric pump to remove engine oil than open fumoto valve and remove filter.
I did a lot of mess when i did it 1st time.
Tried to put back old oil to a bottle from a bowl and failed with it as i did not have funnel.
