I'm gonna have to take a rattle can to my scuttle panel, that C4 restorer stuff brings it back to life for a while but doesn't keep its colour for very many wks, managed to pick one up for a tenna on eBay so ain't gotta rush about getting the old one off prepped painted and on again in the same day, can just swap um straight over once ive painted the spare one.

So a word of warning for the guys thinking of using a rattle can. Its cold right now, like very cold which means the paint doesn't come out well from the nozzle. A neat trick is to place the cans in warm water for 10 minutes or so but before you spray test them out because the paint can go really thin. Not sure if thats the correct term lol.

First run is not 100% coverage build it up pass after pass

Its takes 90% of the time to prep and 10% of the time to spray.

Good luck all and Dave where are the pics of your grill lol.

I’m even getting the aircon fixed at the weekend (not that I will be using it in this freezing weather) 🥶🥶 just getting little odd jobs completed. MOT’D last week, serviced next month along with the rocker cover gaskets then off to a dent specialist to give it a general tidy. Be perfect for summer then 🤞🤞

Hello all, need some advice please....when I split my headlights ages ago to spray the inserts they must not have sealed properly afterwards as bits of condensation forms when the lights are on. I plan on splitting them again and removing the old black sealant to replace with heat resistant sealant which I have from my job so there sealed properly, can I clean the inside of the headlight covers without any issues? It’s just where the condensation has left ”runs”....thanks

No issue here with cleaning the inside, wear nitrile gloves so you dont leave your dabs inside or anything else, its worth looking at them in different lights just to make sure theres nothing in them like smears ect.

You can use AC in any weather mate, hot or cold it keeps the air dryer in theory . My AC is on all the time. You can get kits to refill it I think @jaygsi has done this, might be worth speaking to him on what he suggests is the go to kit.

I didn't do it in the end. Sent my kit back to the dealer, firstly wouldn't connect to the AC port, just kept leaking.

Then watched a few videos on it and put me right off. Seems like you need not only connect to low pressure side but also have a gauge contacted too high pressure side. Plus other issues, Scotty explains in loads of detail.

Ended up paying mobile guy to do 2 of my cars, and managed to get a cheaper deal by getting someone else involved so he came and gassed all 3 cars up.

No way will 2 of the screws come out where the wing mirror plastic is so that’s out of the question for now.

cheers mate, I’ve got no idea what paint 🤣🤣 I just grabbed a tin of spray paint from b and q....I will double check now....

it was this one....

regarding the mirrors, I may have to but I will do it when the weather is better. My garage is quite narrow so I don’t want to spray them on the car in the garage.

Hey hey scooby fanatics!!

hope you’re doing good 👍

I’d like to say a massive thanks to my friend and mechanic Adrian Spencer (ADGESPEED) for carrying out the following work on my pride and joy::

engine oil (synionic)
gear box oil (motul 300)
diff oil (motul 300LS)
pollen filter
BOTH ROCKER COVER GASKETS
new air con rad and o-ring then regassed
fixed temperamental boost gauge
fixed horn which was wired by me 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

(TOUCH WOOD) there’s not 1 issue with my car now so il look at getting the dints out OR refreshing the underside OR more power next.....

I could get the dints out only for another to appear so it’s not an issue just my OCD kicking in

very proud of my 17 year old blobeye 👍😍

no idea mate, I’ve been taking my Subaru’s to him for the last 10 years at least and it’s the fact I feel comfortable he knows what he’s doing and he’s not going for joyrides of a night in it....he mentioned retiring soon and my heart sank...still had a chuckle at our texts mate 🤣🤣

I've not driven it since Ricky did the video mate.
He's spent a fortune on the golf mate and still needs to spend loads more
he was saying the other day he would like another impreza but would have to be JDM as most of the UK ones are rusty, that 2003 STI he bought only had 2 previous owners and only 60k on the clock and looked lovely but we had to have the rear turrets and the back of one of the sills welded before he sold it!

it was purchased off of a work colleague who had owned it about 16 years and tbh the rust was in areas that you couldn't see you would only know about it if you felt for it right up the turret towards the inner wheel arch and the side skirt had to be removed to see the other bit so the previous owner would not have known .
I MOT imprezas pretty much daily so know where to find the rust lol...But I hadn't done the mot on this one for a few years.

scary that mate and a shame...how come he didn’t keep it knowing that the major issues associated with our cars had been sorted and sorted by you so I’m guessing it was tip top...
