Did you use the cork gasket on the sump?
There isn’t one as standard, the manual calls for just RTV sealant (I think that’s what it’s called, the grey stuff).
Looking good, back to following from the shadows

Quick update, whilst I’m waiting for the heads and gaskets to be delivered thought I would do some MORE cleaning and a bit of tidying up ready for fitments.
also put the oil cover plate to rear of block

I thought I would go for something different.
well tonight I managed to get oil pump on and have a go at the inlet manifold, not sure if I’m going to keep it this colour yet was going for oem as v1 didn’t have red top so trying to make it look as original as possible really.

God I wish these parts would hurry up I’m running out of things to make look pretty lol.
some of the bits done tonight,
another coat on inlet manifold, some brackets coated up and the injector caps iv gone for red to stand out a little. Again not 100% on injector caps yet

Is the red standard? (Assuming this was a restoration).
Have you ordered a load of new stainless hardware to put it all back together? Measuring & listing that will keep you busy

Ok so been a bit slow as hit some issues, turns out when the block was vapour blasted they managed to absolutely fill all head threads with crap so had to get a tap and die set to make sure it was all clean and ready to go for heads.
now that’s done I have put the clutch and lightweight flywheel on so it can stay on the engine stand now for the duration of the build.
next will be heads and building it up and hopefully no issues, fingers crossed.

So got a bit done this evening, camshaft seals in, water crossover on, building up inlet manifold with fuel lines.
thermal spacers fitted it’s finally starting to look like an engine again.
inlet loose at the min and all bolts hand tight want to make sure everything fits before torqued down.
Also every o ring changed and the tiny bit of fuel line on the fuel rails which was welded to the pipe lol
anyway some pics as everyone like pics

I bought the different style water crossover pipe to fit this block but would I need to bung this as well then o can I just connect to the existing breather?

Hey yeah took this for a drive all was fine, my only thoughts are a bit of grit may have got in, absolutely fuming.
so managed source a closed deck to put back in as going to keep the car as my best option.
just have to sell the old engine now which is a good spec
