I've been on the MBworld forum for a while now, most owners agree to budget £500 a month to cover average fuel (7-21mpg) and servicing costs as they will do rear tyres every 5000 miles and things like front discs and pads will set you back £2.3k. They are crazy cars and none of these things would stop me owning one at some point. I do need a C63 in my life!
If you hammer the thing every time you get in it, then it will eat rear tyres, and be returning very low MPG.
Normal driving and having some fun will see rear tyres 8 - 10K.
Servicing, well, I had it serviced two times by my local indy - I think it was something like £190 for oil & filter.
I also changed the front discs & pads, if I recall correctly they were £500 odd pounds, and that was from Mercedes. Mercedes parts are reasonable in my experience.
Shop around, MB Edinburgh, Newcastle and Essex all do cracking deals on parts.
If its a performance pack car the prices will be higher than what I've said, or if its got ceramic discs then you're screwed.
My previous W212 5.5 E63 AMG standard service was £220, oil/filter and the two air filters
My current W213 4.0 E63 is going to Mercedes in about 2 weeks for its first service, the price they've given me is £309, which I think is a great price.
As part of a main dealer service, you automatically get Mobilo cover for 12 months, so breakdown cover etc
