That Ecutek Racerom setup with all the features it has available looks like a serious bit of kit! All that from just a Remap & Bluetooth available
I wonder if I can retrofit a 2015+ STI ECU into my Blobeye to get all those functions

You don't get all the fancy options available as the later cars had drive-by-wire throttle etc so no launch control or flat foot shifting (granted you'd have to fit the other parts required but they'd be easily available).
My Coilovers have been to 2 DPD offices in 5 days, I am hopeful I'll have them for the weekend though

Great write up pal, credit to you Any updates on syvecs ecu fitting, just waiting on my built motor back from mark at TDR and am going to go syvecs route as well. Just want to know final prices of it fitted and how car drives.
#486
Mark @ TDR doesn't want to map my car on EcuTek and says I really need Syvecs, plus Richard @ FB Tuning said the same. So listening to the experts I'm now definitely going the Syvecs S6+ route as I already have the ECU.
I'm still waiting for Zen Performance and Mark at Lateral to come back to me with a price on the Syvecs sensors, install etc. I'm also waiting for TDR to indicate when they can take the car to install all the parts and FB Tuning also. Have also asked teh question about parts fitting by Lateral and Zen but haven't received a reply yet.
Just want to get the car booked in now!!!!!!

The car is quite an exhaustive spec now and every little thing makes mapping with the standard ecu more difficult. For example, lightweight flywheel requires tweeks to minimise engine stall, tgv deletes have other knock on issues with the map that need correcting and so on. Plus, the Syvecs has a faster processor and more feedback to allow better control.
All that said, I should have updated this thread a while ago really. While ringing round to talk to Syvecs Installer and mappers I called Alan Jeffery at Enginetuner and had a lovely chat. We talked through my spec and parts and even though I've already bought the Syvecs Alan recommended using Ecutek Racerom on my car. The Syvecs will be better in some ways and less in others. As it's an all out road car I'm happy with this option. I said I'm happy to use Syvecs if it'll be better and safer, but Alan was certain my car would be better on Ecutek, so decision made.
Martyn will be mapping the car maff-less speed density and with all the normal options of switchable maps, AL, Launch control, pops and bangs etc. Not because I'll use them, purely because I'm still 18 years old mentally.
So decision made, car is going to Enginetuner and would have been there already getting final fit up if I hadn't ordered a new 3.5" thick massive Process West FMIC from the states. It's on an 8 week lead time unfortunately so has delayed things a bit. Plus it'll need modifying for the tial Q Bov and all the new hard pipes powder coating once it arrives.
So we're looking at early May for the final parts and car to go to ET now.
Can't bloody wait.
Few more mods pending so will update the thread once I have something to show.
Thanks.

Well the Front mount kit was sold to me as a Perrin, but actually turned out to be a Japspeed hatch kit. I was going to stick with this as the core was still massive and it had previously ran well on the car, but it always bothered me that I wanted the best possible. The Process West Fmic is absolutely huge. No regrets at all going for this instead, even though it's not cheap and the pipework will need modifying slightly on arrival. Much prefer this option.

I was going to suggest it was because on the Perrin BOV mounts with silicone hoses & there like detaching at high boost. As it wasn’t actually a Perrin then I get my coat
Are the mods required because it’s designed for a LHD car & did you consider the ETS FMIC?

Funny story with the FMIC kit actually. There is little difference in the Process West or ETS kits, both 3.5" thick core, free flowing and both well designed. Had decided to go with the Process West kit after I rang RCM (as sole uk importer) to check stock. I was told they had 2 kits on the shelf in stock for my car. Result. So ordered through Darrell at Scoobyworx who sorts me out with a lot of bits. He was then told they were not on stock and were on an 8 week lead time from the US. What????
So I got a quote from Neil at VIP for the ETS unit, including the additional ETS Tial Q Bov flange, almost the same price in total and on shorter lead time. However, RCM wouldn't refund Darrell for the Process West kit. So I'm now left waiting for the Process West kit to arrive so it can be modified and it's holding up getting the car to Enginetuner. Very annoying.
Alan had space and the car could well have been all finished up by now.
I've just got to be patient. Good things come to those who wait apparently.

Nope, both the Process West and ETS kit will fit RHD cars too.

Few bits arrived recently, Grimspeed MAF blockoff plate, Another Tial Q BOV weld on flange for use when the FMIC kit turns up. Plus a vac pipe blockoff plug so I can easily swap between dump valve and blanked DV when complete. Got another alloy blanking plug too for the recirc pipe. Nothing exciting.
Also today ordered the powder in my chosen colour for the FMIC pipework. So once the kit arrives, trial fit the setup, measure and mark for Tial Q flange, modify pipe and have flange tig welded on the all the pipes powder coated ready. Then I'll probably refit it all to drive it to Enginetuner.
In other news, my crusty, rusty and patina VW bus is getting a full Volksworld photo shoot this Sunday for a full mag feature. So I've been busy sorting a few bits on that too. Plus my 63 beetle goes in for a full engine rebuild and some decent upgrades on Monday.
Too many toys, all happening at once now.

Powder arrived for powder coating the FMIC pipes when they finally arrive. No other news on the Subaru for now, just awaiting on the FMIC before the next push to complete. Has given me a little time to fiddle with other projects.
My 71 bay window bus had a full magazine photo shoot Sunday, then the clutch completely shat itself Sunday afternoon, so I'm currently taking the bus apart again. Also, my 63 bug went off to the engine builder for an engine rebuild and few tweeks. Oh and I took the wife's Golf R estate front end apart yet again to fit another splitter after the £180 Maxton slitter got smashed. Joy.

Haven't updated this in a few months but things are finally falling into place.
The Process West FMIC kit I ordered from RCM at the beginning or March fionally arrived last weeks 19 weeks after it was ordered. What a nightmare this has been, nit the fault of RCM, just shipping problems etc.
It's bloody massive. Really glad I went with this. Also opted for the more stealthy black version. it will need modifying to have the current BOV port removing and the Tial Q port welding on then all the pipes will get powder coating. I will leave this to Enginetuner to do but I might fit the kit myself along with the K&N typhoon if I get a chance.
Random car pic when I gave it a rare wash.
So now I have the last final parts I was finally able to get the car booked in and scheduled at Enginetuner. So it will be going in at the beginning of September to get everything complete. Thank god!!!!!
