In more exciting news, I contacted Edwin @ MeisterR and ordered a set of MeisterR Zeta CRD coilovers for the car this morning. I was so pleased with how they performed on my FSTI daily I have no concerns going down this route again on this car.

Yep, I'll be selling them at some point. They currently have H&R lowering springs fitted that I imported from the US. I'll pm you shortly.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new DAMD steering wheel from the car direct from Japan. Unfortunately shipping is 30-45 days ON TOP of teh 2 months wait to have one made! So over 3 months wait. eek.

Also.... This weekend I finally got a chance to install the MeisterR coilovers onto the car. Like with the Foz, I took my time to measure and grease everything up with copperease and plenty of PTFE marine grade grease to keep the weather out. They are 32 click adjustable and they are only set on 10 at the rear and 12 on the front but still feel very responsive on the road. I'd forgotten just how good these coilovers are, they are hands down FAR better than the standard suspension that came off the car. It's so nice to drive now!

Back came up slightly from the previous setup with lowering springs, and front down a touch.

Camber, toe & track getting setup tomorrow. But I used a camber gauge so know they are pretty much bang on already.

Nice selection mate. We still have the 7.5R estate, which is great but doesn't excite me like the Subaru does.

I do like the M2 comp to be honest. They are a lovely bit of kit. A Friend Joe Achilles (YouTube car reviewer) has one and I keep looking at them myself. They look a lot of fun right out of the box. Makes you realise how much power you can get off the shelf now outside of the daft Subaru world of constant engine rebuilds.

Thought you had the GT86, Glad you've still got the Tobaru.

I almost forgot, I also fitted a Perrin quick shift selector that I purchased a while back. This along with the AS shifter bushings and DAMD steering wheel really transformed how the Forester felt to drive, so I went down the same route with this car.

Plus I finally fitted a decent dash cam into the car.

Went for one off Amazon actually and it's really good. We have the top of the range Nextbase dash cam in the wife's golf R which is nearly 10x the price and the one I purchased is every bit as good, if not better as it's more hidden out of view and more compact than the Nextbase version.

Amazon Amazon

Also forgot I ordered a Fuji Racing pitch stop mount. The fast road version, not the race version.

So today I solved a little OCD issue I had with the rear coilovers extenders. Wanted the extenders as I didn't want to cut massive holes in the rear side carpets to adjust the rears. However, when fitted they were massively floppy. Lol.

Floppy untidy extenders.

So I designed these and 3D printed them.

Installed them tonight.

Massively over-engineered solution as normal.

Problem solved.

Hello mate. Have everything I need for the hardware install now except the Syvecs loom. I've just been using the car as it's my daily and haven't got as far as the power upgrades yet. All still sat wrapped in my nice warm garage. lol

Lockdown kinda hampered my plans to get it done to be honest as I have worked every single day and things have got very tough. Between that, my wife's stressful job and schooling 2 young kids everything else just fell on the wayside for another year.

I will get this done. Will most likely go up to TDR to have everything fitted and mapped initially on EcuTek Racerom, then go down to Scooby Clinic to have the Syvecs installed and re-mapped.

Thanks. Hope you're ok.

Yeah not bad, glad to hear it's still on the cards.

I ordered myself some Zeta CRD coilovers on your recommendation as my stock rear struts feel like they are about to self destruct

If DPD weren't ***** I'd have them fitted by now

haha. You'll love them mate. They've totally transformed my last 2 cars. Brilliant shocks, even on a road car. Never thought I'd ever recommend coilovers on a road car but can say hand on hearth they are a massive improvement over the standard setup both for ride comfort and handling.

I am expecting great things; sharper handling, more refined damping & a car that doesn't try & rattle itself to pieces

It'll be interesting to se the difference switching to the Syvec's makes on the same setup...

Admittedly I've not done much homework on the setup but from what I gather it offers more control over mapping so should be more refined & potentially make more power, as well as the benefits or setting up engine protection features.

I believe it can also control the DCCD as well can't it?

Yes that's correct to all of the above. I think you would need more plug in expansion to control DCCD but I believe that's possible. I will just be using it for the engine mapping which as you say should in theory yield slightly improved results over EcuTek and better protection through the additional feedback options. If I finally get there that is!!!
