Bread Sauce
Mum loved those. Plus she mashed banana with the back of a fork onto the bread...and THEN tipped granulated sugar on top.
Dad's fave.
one of my faves (a heart attack on a plate
)
Beef dripping on toast with a sprinkle of salt

Now hears one for you
it really boils down to being skint and not being able to afford things, but thinking back I wouldn't change a thing
happy days
EU regs would have a field day with this......
Instead of cough mixture, vics vapour rub on a teaspoon with sugar
Things we're tough in our house, I say house but that would be a luxury, it was more like a cardboard box on the edge of the road

Obviously referencing the Four Yorkshiremen sketch, there.
Steve, the Vics thing is nothing but pure madness lol.
Does anyone from around 45+ remember that stuff for kids called Virol?
Was in a dark brown glass 'urn'-shaped thing and the stuff itself looked like, and had the texture of, axle grease.
You'd lick some off a spoon - loved it.
Had a unique, distinctive flavour... I can still remember what it was like, some 40+ years on.
