iPhone 8

Yeah the storage thing is a clever marketing tool of Apple. I want a 64gb device but the 7 plus comes in 32gb at £669 and the 128gb at £769, but 8 plus at 64gb is £799. Do I go with 32gb which is tight on storages, may just about to get by, or go for 128gb? If I go 128gb I could spend and extra £30 and get a 8 plus 64gb.......

I'm not making any mistake, none of what you are trying to sell the phone as being great for is of any interest to me and 99% of other phone users. AR is on pokemon go and it works fine on whatever device runs the game so you don't need an apple phone for AR to work.
A finger print is as unique as someone's face and no one else can get into my phone without my fingerprint or knowing the security code. The security code is the weak point in terms of guessing someone's code or cracking the software and that is still present with face id as inadvertently demonstrated at launch.
Edit: in fact i'd question the uniqueness of face id when it comes to identical twins. Has such a test been done? Identical twins can share a face but their finger prints will be unique.

This might help you "Apple estimates that risk at one-in-50,000 for its Touch ID fingerprint sensor and one-in-one million for its new Face ID system”

That notch out the top of the screen looks terrible on the iPhone X - enough to put me off buying one. I couldn't believe they even demo'd games which clearly had buttons obscured by the notch.
And face ID - well that's now 'the best thing ever'.. when really what they mean is they couldn't get touch ID to work properly behind the screen in time, so had to fall back to this.
I expect the next iteration of this phone will be something impressive, but it's not quite there yet. Despite being an Apple user, I must say the Samsung offerings are looking increasingly tempting these days.

Guy at work has an LG G6 which has got new for under £300 (sim free) and it has a massive screen, dual cameras of which one is wide-angle which is an excellent feature, and wireless charging. The price of smartphones has come down massively - you can pick up very impressive Xiamoi models from these Chinese import places for under £100. Apple need to come out with something very special to justify something costings 10 x as much, and I think it's becoming increasingly difficult for them to do so.

Now you're just showing your ignorance. Pokemon Go!! Now, I'm a big fan of it but it's just a live background, not AR.

I'm not anti apple and a huge fan of the ipad but it's just impossible to hold a sensible discussion with you because anyone who isn't fanatical about the iphone is in your eyes wrong.

But they do, my wife is still using her iPhone 5 which came out 5 years ago and still currently supported. I would stick with my iPhone 6 but I want a larger screen. I am contemplating on getting getting a Oneplus 5 as I think that is currently the best in terms of operating as fast and to lag free to an iPhone when watching the reviews on YouTube. But the only thing stopping me is the support, their Oneplus 2 is no longer supported and that was released only 2 years ago. Sure you can root it etc but there will be no vender development for that device anymore. I think this is typical in the Android world, vendor support ceases after 2 years.

I agree it'll get good, but I just don't think it's ready. I mean the fact during the demo the phone failed to unlock twice was pretty embarrassing! Samsung will probably include this when it's ready and works properly - I think generally Android stuff is ahead of Apple too these days - look how long they've had wireless charging, OLED, dual cameras, excellent screen:body ratios on some of those models.

It's interesting that you've somehow projected an Apple quality onto Samsung, Samsung are not known for implementing things when they're good and ready, they slap on a load of features and see what sticks, more power to them, we all learn from their mistakes.
And I totally agree there are some very cheap Android devices that have extraordinary features, but most of them lack support.

When I start a thread it's not so people can tell me how **** something is, maybe that's what you expect here? You have to accept that there are people who might enjoy using nice devices.
If you do want to discuss something go ahead, but I won't slap you on the back because you've fallen for some online rumour.

No I wont accept it as your fingerprint is unique to you so no one else can unlock it unless they are all, including Apple, admitting that their fingerprint scanners are cr4p and don't work.
I'm not coming on here and telling you it's **** i'm saying iphone doesn't have the competitive edge it once did as the competition is equally as good, unlike the ipad which is streaks ahead of anything else. I'm entitled to voice my opinion whether you like it or not, you seem to have a misunderstanding that if you post a thread no one can voice a different opinion to yourself
I do accept people enjoy nice devices as i've clearly stated how much I like my ipad which is the latest pro model. So why you are questioning whether I do I do not know.
And show me where I have fallen for some online rumour.

Oh hang on, they were all in Android before iOS. I'm sure you'll trot out some similar list, but the real point is that they copy off each other. To deny otherwise ............
One thing I will say for iPhone, battery life is superb (when the phones are newish). They do deteriorate, like all others over time, sadly.

Fancy an Apple fan saying that. Oh if the shoe were on the other foot...
Come on then, what have Apple introduced first? I'm not talking about improved, or popularised, which I fully accept is Apple's forte, and hats off to them for it.

Improved? Yes. Invented, not a lot springs to mind.
Anyone who has used Safari would realise it's far form a real web browser
Sp for iPhone X then, are you advocating that it's nearly £300 dearer than iPhone 8 or 7 (or it's rivals) simply because of FaceID? It can't be anything else, as they have had most of it's features for some years

Would that be the multi touch developed by another company that Apple bought then? What have Apple actually invented that is so game changing?

None the less, to say Apple were the first to offer a "real web browser" is just daft. All they did was introduce on that was better.

you obviously don’t remember web browsing before the iPhone. It was awful. The full web browser was the software highlight of the keynote, it was astonishing compared to anything else. If you search google you’ll find I’m right.

I'm guessing Android had this in 2012?
