iPhone 8

Who's pulling the trigger then?

I've been dragging my 6+ along for what will be 3 years, it's becoming an 'in' joke and as a self confessed tech geek it's time to pony up.

It might be the first time I haven't bought the largest storage and that could be a mistake, I have a ton of space left with 128GB on device and 200GB iCloud and I'd rather save a bit and buy a HomePod later.

Will decide once the price is know, I won't be buying whatever the super fancy one is called, limited toy budget.

dpb 07 September 2017 11:23 AM

Hand over your thousand pound plus , apple needs you more than ever

Fishbowlhead 07 September 2017 11:25 AM

Quite a price increase across the board apparently coming. iPhone 8 reportedly STARTING at £1000 outright, absolutely insane.

dpb 07 September 2017 11:34 AM

Youd have imagined with peeps buying less and less handsets that the price would go down

But No , apple customer would feel ripped off if this happened !

haha

You know most smartphones are getting more expensive right?

Tidgy 07 September 2017 12:51 PM

I'm due to upgrade and tbh nothing jumps out at me, i even looked at the iphone and they are all the same.

Curently got an S6 and can't really see any reason to get rid since its working fine.

Whole phone industry is pretty lame at the min as far as phone improvements go.

BlkKnight 07 September 2017 12:59 PM

The s7 is the best phone I've used, and for the money it's really cheap at the moment.

The s8 is very fragile and not much of an improvement over the s7 (imho).

Look at a cheap upgrade?

Not much what:lol1:
Oled screen should kill s8 Amoled,
had few s7 and s7 plus -what a pieces of crap

JackClark 07 September 2017 03:35 PM

I won't be chucking a grand at it and will probably be trading in my old one too, they still get a great price.

Jonnys3 07 September 2017 04:45 PM

Still on an iPhone 5C here and that's only because I can no longer upgrade certain apps on my iPhone 4 anymore. I've been waiting ever since the iPhone 4 for Apple to produce something spectacular but every release fails to live up to the hype or expectation. I hope next week will prove to be different, but I don't hold out much hope.

dpb 07 September 2017 04:47 PM

Sounds like could be waterproof !

BlkKnight 07 September 2017 05:19 PM

bah copying the S7 :)

My contract is up in the coming weeks I'm hoping i can upgrade to the 8 from the 6s.. I'm wondering if I'm able to upgrade as soon as the phone is released ??

Also I read that it's £800 to buy or $1000 whichever way u look at it it's gonna be a stinger

dpb 07 September 2017 07:10 PM

i think Sony has been waterproof for the last 10 year

If its $1000 anywhere else, it'll be £1000. I went to the states to get my iphone5, got it for $600 instead of the £600 it was here.

BlkKnight 07 September 2017 10:41 PM

especially with the exchange rate being so poo + import duties & higher VAT

Puff The Magic Wagon! 08 September 2017 08:42 AM

Unlikely unless they do a 5SE size - can't be doing with something the size of a small notepad, for which I have an iPad mini...

True, my 6s is the most disappointing so far for ergonomics. Top heavy, difficult to use single handed and the curved edges make it more slippery so it gets dropped (a lot more now I have RSi in my right arm which mean I have a weak grip) and its more fragile.

The 5S platform was the best, so wish I didn't sell it. Had the right size, weight balance, better to grip and was nicer to use single handed.

There is a good window for improvement on the 6/7 platform.

dpb 08 September 2017 10:20 AM

I know people like to show off their apple allegiance and its supposed be strong - but I don't even think about going without phone case which of course makes it squarer

I think the 6s size is the limit for one handedness , but 5.2 best all round in every other way

having said that depends if you've got trump sized puddies

JackClark 08 September 2017 10:56 AM

I have Trumpish hands and have no trouble one handing my 6+ it does have a case with a handy cut out in the back.

I'm one of the few people that can change Impreza spark plugs without moving the washer bottle...

Have owned my 6+ since release and although it works for me if the iPhone 8 is as good as the leaks i will be tempted!

Same, I'm pretty sure the next OS update is the last one so a good time to sell.

JackClark 09 September 2017 08:15 AM

I'm not going to start another thread but this is good stuff. New Apple Watch uses the same phone number as your phone, some sort of sim share. https://9to5mac.com/2017/09/08/lte-a...ee-trial-plan/

Flaps 10 September 2017 11:36 PM

Literally jumped ship today. I've fallen out of love with Apple who seem to be killing off the older ipads and phones (of which we have four). I've gone S8, got what I consider to be quite a good deal.

JackClark 11 September 2017 08:17 AM

Hmm, interesting. Apple products have the longest supported life of any device out there, easily when it comes to the iPad.

S8 is a nice device however, have fun.

BlkKnight 11 September 2017 08:41 AM

What's the warranty length on an iPhone? It's two years on the S7/8.

I'm still getting OS updated on the wife's S5.
