And just wearing a tag doesn't stop someone walking down the street carrying a bread knife etc , with intent . i doubt youd even be able stop them hiring a vehicle

Well confiscating their licenses would help prevent that. A common method is obviously using a vehicle so take that option away.
Confiscate any vehicle registered to them or immediate family, I.E. wife or brother residing at the same address.

If someone is intent to do something there's little that can be done except to make it hard as possible. The knife, or sword shown the FB video that's been conveniently ignored shouldn't be on sale anywhere in the UK. The harder it is to carry out the more likely they will be caught trying to gather their weapon(s) of choice.
I'm sure the goal posts would move but you move with them and continue to narrow the options.

I think you've inadvertanly hit on something quite crafty here. Your big long list of things that should be banned encompasses so much that simplly functioning day to day becomes so difficult as to be barely worth bothering with. So anyone even vaguely linked to terrorism would most likely the leave the country as it simply isn't worth the hassling of dealing with such a draconian system.

Thank goodness he was 'saved', or I dread to think what punishment would've awaited such a naughty boy.

Feel free to correct me but the only things I've talked of banning is Machetes and free access to bomb recipes.
Quite why you want these readily available I'm not sure.

Ah, that'll do it. What about kitchen knives? Hammers? Rocks? Coldplay cds? When it comes to options to hurt people, the possibilities seem endless.

Obviously. So why are automatic weapons illegal?.
I mean by your logic everything is a weapon so why ban or control anything?.

mate anyone who lives in the real world knows you're talking sense, but the contradictions you get on here are from snobs who look down their nose at anyone with a different opinion.

Well so far we've had: all information on bomb making, vehicles registered to those on a terrorism watch list and their immediate family (innocent or otherwise), knives and swords.

Now by extension information on bomb making includes quite a large portion of the chemistry field. As for components you've got: certain fertilisers, bleach, hair dye, nails/nuts/bolts/ball bearings, mobile phones, pipe work, pressure cookers, fireworks... the list goes on (if you want to get really fun there's certain parts of a smoke detector).

As for knives, anything with locking/fixed blage is illegal for open carry anyway. All banning anything that falls into that description does is make life very difficult for people that want them for legal means (bearing in mind most knife crime actually involves cooking utensils).

Then there's the car/driving licence thing. What you're doing there is persecuting people by association, which is wrong on sooooooooooooo many levels.

He's really not though, all he's actually doing is regurgitating the same ill thought out knee jerk reactions that get thrown around everytime there's a terrorist attack.

So what are your non knee jerk suggestions for preventing terror attacks?

Ending world poverty, loving thine enemy, creating world peace and similar moronic nonsense won't cut it unfortunately. Measures immediately achievable are required. Kwik is talking sense.

Kwiks knee jerk reactions won't actually solve the problem though. They'll just **** people off and make them try harder. Where as yes things like ending global poverty are wonderful little hippy pipe dreams but they would actually help. You need to counter the motivation to commit acts of terror, not the means to do it. Kwik even said himself that they'll still manage with the right motivation, all your doing by persecuting their families is giving them the motivation.

Great, so having rubbished Kwik's 'knee jerk reactions', you've provided no alternative suggestions. But countering the motivation to commit acts of terror sounds positive. How would you plan to do that?

Persecuting? This is where the problem lies. If you don't pay for the tax on your car it gets taken away. But mr potential terrorist you can keep yours!.
And I didn't mention banning any normal everyday chemicals, i
mentioned banning the sharing of any recipe for combining them and blowing people up.

As for machetes/swords well it may be illegal to carry, but as shown above in 2 seperate links showing 2 separate idiots within a week with machetes they are easy to come by. They're on sale on eBay ffs. Ban or restrict the sale of them, simple. Normal every day life will continue as normal every day people don't need them.

Yes, if someone is adamant to kill in the name of their religion then they wouldn't be stopped. But by making as much potential weaponry difficult to
come by they may either think twice within the time it would take to come by or give away so many footprints that they get caught.

I think we can all realise now the uphill struggle we have convincing **** for brains liberals that if we can't get past bomb recipes on the internet, sales of machetes and confiscation of cars as it might 'hurt their feelings' then we really are ****ed.

In life there are consequences. If I spunk all my wages down the bookies and don't pay the mortgage wouldn't the bank be persecuting my mrs for repossessing our house?.
Perhaps half the deterrent of planning on blowing up innocent people should be the evil looks mrs terrorist gives mr terrorist through her hajib when she has to walk to the shops.
As for pissing people off. Stop ***** footing around. If people are pissed off with Britain there are plenty of other options whether they were born here or not. I'm pissed off going to work 6 days a week, being skint barely able to buy a house at nearly 40. I'm sure 99% of the population has something they are angry about.
Morally though we see life as difficult and persevere.
Pandering to someone because they've got the hump in some way justifies their actions. Have you ever considered that if a terrorist will kill regardless of how hard we make it, do you think they would attack regardless of how much we pander to them and respect their 'human rights'?.

The difference being not taxing your car is illegal, where as being a potential terrorist is morally questionable (depending on who's side you're on).

And I didn't mention banning any normal everyday chemicals, i
mentioned banning the sharing of any recipe for combining them and blowing people up.

Whats the point in banning recipes if you can still buy the ingredients. All it will do is push these people into less traceable methods of sharing info. Besides, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure the guts of a few fireworks, a bag of nails and some drain pipe will make a reasonable pipe bomb. No need to google it, just some basic knowledge.

As for machetes/swords well it may be illegal to carry, but as shown above in 2 seperate links showing 2 separate idiots within a week with machetes they are easy to come by. Are you really that naive? You can do just as much damage with any of the vast range of kitchen knives as you could with a machete or a sword. Again all you're doing is making life difficult for those without terrorist leanings.

Yes, if someone is adamant to kill in the name of their religion then they wouldn't be stopped. But by making as much potential weaponry difficult to
come by they may either think twice within the time it would take to come by or give away so many footprints that they get caught.

As demonstrated above, you've not achieved that though.

I think we can all realise now the uphill struggle we have convincing **** for brains liberals that if we can't get past bomb recipes on the internet, sales of machetes and confiscation of cars as it might 'hurt their feelings' then we really are ****ed.

No, just no.

Your not on your own, there are lots of people who are thinking along the same lines as you. Personally i`m getting concerned that the people who say "you can`t do that" because then they will just "do whatever" are beginning to sound like sympathisers.

omg, what a dick

My sympathies are with our open free society, not with the dystopian vision you seem to have!

I'm all for cracking down hard on these devils. But this has to be done within the law, and above all actually be effective. We can all dream up ways of dealing with this problem, I'm yet to hear of anything that could actually work.
