Oh they all certainly have their problems. Best thing to do is look after them properly.

Im 6 months into my new STI and its been fine. I think the stereo is fine, its the speakers that are ****e. Zero low frequency and the overall power is low. I think Ill try and figure out some subtle underseat amplification and replace all of the speakers with something higher quality and it'll be alright.

Reluctant to say, but touch wood no reliability issues. I do drive it with a degree a mechanical sympathy. Went through my 10k service as expected with no bother.

Impreza and STI are different cars in subaru's line up now effectively.

Not sure about Japan but US get the facelift STI. Slightly different face, Recaro option seats but not CS and the 6 Pots from the RA-R.

The yanks seemed to have seen the Focus RS, given it a respectful nod, and walked past it to the STI. They even have much love for the WRX which we don't get.

Yanks probably walked past the Focus RS and laughed at the leaking coolant

15K on mine so far and I kick its **** daily (remapped from new), but looked after; serviced every 6-12mnths, nothing more. If it blows in the future so be it, that's what an extended warranty is for.

Its strange, in the nice promo pics the front bumper plastics are nice black semigloss things but in the show pics Ive seen the plastics are all this tacky cheap grey stuff.

I will be looking into the costs of the brake upgrade and maybe even the seats next time I go to the dealer.

I've asked my local dealer about the facelift STI and they don't think it will be coming here. I would expect the new parts are unlikely to be fully available here.

Would probably have to import them.

There are 2 sets of 6 pots on Japanese auction sites off the S407 but the shipping would be horrendous to UK.

The STi bottom line kit on the show cars is semi-gloss/gloss finish.
When sold to the market it comes in matt black finish.

If they brought this to the UK with the 2.0 litre engine retained, i'd definitely buy one, i think that looks great.

Think the Honda Civic knocks spots off it in the looks department... probably does in the reliability stakes too.

I'd import a 2.0L from Japan if I were going to buy one.

Are you having a laugh? How can you say this looks better than the STI? I just couldn't live with that daft 3 tailpipe exhaust system. No doubt at all it will be more reliable though I'm sure. It's supposed to be fast as 330ish bhp too, but nope. No chance with that styling. Sorry.

Yuk.

I think that looks great. Needs gold wheels though. And 350 bhp, and ideally no more than 1300kg.

You can make a new STI weight that, but you do need to remove the interior, a lot of wiring, all the glass, all 4 doors and the bootlid at the very least!
