Well, it’s actually all finished and I managed to test it just before lockdown🙌🏻
goes like stink, definitely the quickest thing I’ve ever driven by far.
It handles really well, feels nice and solid on the straight, couldn’t get the power down, the track was super slippy.
I’m looking forward to blast in the spring👌🏻

Epic mate. What a build. You need some bigger tyres on the back of that thing and a dry day.

This has been very enjoyable to follow. Hats off to you sir.
My 2p (I know its not been asked for, sorry) is that the buggy would really benefit from some softer compound tyres with a load index suited for such a light vehicle. I had a set of those proxes on my car for a bit and got rid of them, they just didnt have any grip even when fully warmed up. I dont think you're lightweight buggy will ever get them in the right heat window. Maybe something like an Avon ZZS or Toyo R888R's would work better?

Please keep us updated on your antics!

Cheers mate, yes you're definitely right about the tyres, trouble is there's not much choice for a 14inch rim, Toyo do an r888r 185 60 r14 tyre, but i think mine are 205 45 r14 so its narrower and a larger overall diameter.

Thanks mate, yeah it feels ridiculously quick, it weighed in at 248kgs but i don't think the brakes were on it at the time. I'm planning on corner weighing it again when i tweak the geometry for its next outing, so we'll see

Yeah 14" does limit the choice a bit. Had a quick look and the widest 14" track tyre I can see is a Dunlop DZ03G at 195/60. OR 185/55.
15" would give you a load of choice

Cheers mate, I’ve actually just bought some Yokohama Ao48’s, still only 185 60 14’s but I’ll give them a go, they’re used but still got plenty on them, and they were cheap.
I thought my current tyres were 205’s but they’re actually 195 so it’s not a massive difference in width.

James👍🏻

I've had a few sets of A048's on my track car and they were excellent. I'm absolutely certain that the compound will more than make up for the reduction in width.
But do keep up dated with how you get on!
