Thinking about it, yes. But would be at least a year away as these things take a while to develop.

If it happens, think of it like mobile phones - you change them every few years anyway

Personally I don't see the obsession with making the screen larger. Are we playing games on it?
Set the parameters and leave it alone. Then when a parameter is exceeded the alarm sounds audio and visual. Then you know there's an issue.
It's not like you need to be able to constantly view gauges is it

I'll counter that by saying "viewing gauges" is a key function of toucan and at the current size/res peripheral gauges are very hard to read.

So where i have coolant temp, oil temp and boost as main gauges, i would also like to be able to see oil pressure, ACT and speed for example - without squinting.

When your pushing on you don't have time to look at gauges.
That's the beauty of it. Set the alarms. Gone are the days where you need a dozen garish looking gauges

Agree, I see cars with 6 gauges in dash and another 3 in pillar, how the heck do you see these while driving on wot at the same time?
That's just dangerous!
Alarm rings, you look, slow down or stop and diagnose. Job done.

I've run my toucan in the car when it was a road car and for the past 3years as a sprint car. I don't sit and look at it as there's too much going on, yet it tells me everything I need to know, more importantly WHEN I need to know.

Just as an aside, I still add new stuff to Toucanm usually in response to feedback from customers. Recent changes have been:

  • changing the scaling of oil and water temperature so Toucan could be used on a drag bike running a Vi-PEC, but they only warm it to 50C before a run and the gauge scaling wasn't quite right
  • Turbo speed gauge
  • NOS pressure gauge for our dealer in Taiwan for use on Porsche 996/997
  • Mods to NOS pressure gauge as a result of feedback from a UK user who wanted markers to show the "good" pressure range for the bottle, and low pressure as well as high pressure alarms.
  • BMW iDrive gauge added for a dealer who fits DCT 'boxes to Supras
  • Increased the number if gear indicators to 9 for a similar project
  • Some bug fixes along the way too!

If there's anything you'd like to see added, let me know. Can't promise to add it, but will certainly listen.

Tim are the toucans already up to date when you send them, or is it best to just update them prior to installation?
And is it just a quick plug into laptop with appropriate software to update etc?

New units are always up to date or, at worst, 1 version out of date as we tend to test boards and assemble them in small batches rather than stock piling loads of them.

I post up new versions on the website along with a note as to what the changes are. V1.72 is on the website, and that's what new units will be shipped with. V1.74 has a couple of the changes mentioned above in it but it's still being tested by a couple of customers.

Upgrading needs the PC program from the website and a USB lead. Takes about 10 mins.

Ok cheers, so the latest one to load is the v1.74?
As not installed it yet, just making sure it's best to upgrade prior to fitting

V1.74 not released yet so you can't upgrade to that yet

I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading before installing - it's easy enough to do it later on if there are new features of fixes you need or want.

For me gauges are there to use the sensors to wire into the syvecs ecu for engine trips, a set of defis will set you back 350-500 2nd hand. Toucan is quite a bit more when you include the sensor prices so for me its down to cost though saying that in the past ive picked up 2 toucans for £200 a piece and sold them on at a small profit
