From what you wrote below, it sounds like you were pretty happy with his work.
he mapped my car a while back and although the car has never been in regular use it has been trouble free since the map, an issue arose on the mapping day with the icv which Dunc fixed for free and then mapped the car on rcms rolling road prior to a road tweak for no extra charge.
The car was out of use for sometime but it did 20 plus runs in extreme heat at totb this weekend with not a single issue.

I took mine over to RCM and had Duncan map it last month on the rolling road as I didn't feel that my self-mapping was progressing quickly enough and my Mrs was getting fed up of me always having to 'mess around' with the car whenever we went anywhere. So far, I've been very pleased with the map he's done for me. He managed to extract quite a bit of extra HP from where I'd got it to. I've been keeping an eye on it since, and no sign of any knocking or anything untoward in the logs.
However, if I'd realised RCM were still doing mapping, I'd have probably taken it to them (for convenience as much as anything) as I live just down the road in the next village!

What were you power were you running before the remap @ @ben.harris ?
Have you got a graph of the RCM mapping sesh?
Have you got a graph of the RCM mapping sesh?
It was making about 210HP and 210FtLb torque before and 255HP and 270FtLb torque afterwards - so a 45HP and 60FtLb increase afterwards. I realise there are Scoobs running a bit more than this on a standard TD04, but I've still got the standard TMIC and wanted daily-driver reliability over trying to wring every last bit of power from it. Also, I realised afterwards that my tyre pressures were considerably lower than they should have been (I hadn't checked them for ages and they were 23PSI front, 25PSI rear), so I don't know how much of a negative effect this would have had.
Prior to having it mapped, I hadn't played around with the timing at all and was only running stock boost. I sat in the car on the RR with Duncan while he was mapping it and he explained exactly what he was doing and why he was tweaking certain bits. He certainly seemed to know what he was doing. First thing he did was check the fueling was safe, before making any adjustments. He was wearing det-cans the whole time and noticed straight away, mid-way through the mapping session when something wasn't right: in this case, an air leak from the old, hardened rubber hose connected to the inlet manifold kept blowing off - something that had happened to me when driving it the week previously, but I'd assumed at the time I'd forgotten to reconnect after I'd been working on the car the day before.
EDIT: I should probably also add that my car is still running on it's original 19 year-old internals, with 112,000 miles on the clock and is a UK-spec Turbo 2000.

Here's the HP/torque graph. I do have another one too, showing AFR and manifold pressure, but don't have a copy to hand.

Just an observation of my untrained eye,I'm sure a proper pro would read it better.
As said AFR and boost graphs would be nice to have a look at.

I'm guessing not a great deal of time was spent on mapping by dunks not the smoothest of torque curves ever seen and for a td04 should be hitting peak a fair bit earlier

The runs were started from 2500RPM at minimum load, so it's hitting peak torque only 1000RPM later.
Duncan spent about an hour and a half mapping it. I'm not sure what should be considered "not a great deal of time", but then I'm not expert either. He certainly achieved a lot more HP and torque in that time than had in the 9 months I'd been playing around, self-mapping it beforehand.
Anyway... as I said earlier - I was very pleased with the results. It's an old car, and I asked Duncan to map it for 'driveability' rather than 'drag-strip' style max HP, so as far as I can tell, he's done exactly what I asked!
I'll upload a copy of the AFR/pressure graph, later on this evening.

I suppose I'm being a little harsh and doesn't look too bad for a totally standard UK2000
With up pipe and manifold then you could get closer to 3k for peak torque.
As for time spent then(only my opinion) longer than one and a half hours should be spent to get a complete map and should be signed off on the road for final map/tweak,I understand not all mappers do this who map on the dyno.
As long as you're happy with how it drives and is knock free then all good Ben

- Cosworth panel filter
- 440cc injectors
- Ported manifold
- Harvey up-pipe
- Silicone Y-pipe
- 3" downpipe with 200 cell cat
- 2.5" stainless exhaust mid section and silencer
- 3 port boost control solenoid
Maybe I should be seeing more....

Hmmm - OK, well mine's not totally standard. Internals-wise, it is, but I've also done the following to it:
- Cosworth panel filter
- 440cc injectors
- Ported manifold
- Harvey up-pipe
- Silicone Y-pipe
- 3" downpipe with 200 cell cat
- 2.5" stainless exhaust mid section and silencer

You can map a car in an hour and half if you start with a decent base map and everything goes to plan, but given 30 mins was prob lost head scratching then sorting the pipe out, time lost trying to map it with the pipe leaking then i doubt he spent more than 45 mins at most.

Hmmm - well I thought I was happy with the results, but not so sure now.
One of the reasons I went with Duncan was that he seemed to be the mapper most experienced with ESL and that I know he'd mapped Andy's ESL race car. I figured that if he was good enough to map the designer of ESL's car, he'd be good enough for mine!

And he repeatedly says how rubbish this forum is, but clearly can't live without it in his life. This latest one is at least his seventh or eighth account, his previous ones all having been permabanned. The kid's got some serious issues.
