Facebook is broken!
My wife's on their and have some friends who use it aswell but I just can't bring myself to sign up again mate. it annoys me too much. I can see why it's good for some things, but it's seems to be full of more bad things than good for me.
Sure. One doesn't have to be on the Facebook. It's not an essential like food, clothing and shelter are. To be honest, if anything, that's supposed to amuse you and develop you in some ways, starts to upset you instead, isn't worth it. There're many other ways to socialise than being on the Facebook and get all miserable by that.
Matty, check this out. It quotes a research which concludes that heavy use of social media can make people miserable:

Why would heavy social media usage cause depression? The exposure to “highly idealized representations of peers on social media elicits feelings of envy and the distorted belief that others lead happier, more successful lives,” says the study. People that engage in activities of little meaning on social media makes them feel like they are wasting time. Spending more time on social media increases the exposure to cyber-bullying, thus causing feelings of depression. And social media fuels “Internet addiction,” which is considered a psychiatric condition linked to depression
I'm sure there're more reasons such as silly convos on Facebook that can cause people feel miserable, because it just isn't interesting to know what someone baked in their back kitchen ffs! The research didn't include that as a pointer to explore but I believe it can be one.

Wow this thread took a tangent whilst I was bobbing around in the Biscay (reached force 8, apparently...I've been through worse )
One interesting thing I found with FB is not the usual social stuff, but how I can inadvertently sell/offload stuff without even trying via friends of friends etc. A hell of alot less aggro than messing about on ebay!

Anyhoo, I think its broken again
