the irony of course is that regulations around passports (size / colour etc) are nothing to do with the EU (that's why the keen eyed will notice every passport you see at an airport from Russian to Japanese via the DRC and Afghanistan all look the same - and come in one of 4 base colours )
Passports are actually regulated by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) - nothing to do with the EU
But that is too complicated for Brexidiots
and indeed to further confuse these fvckwits it was always possible to have a blue passport - Croatia has a blue one and is a member of the EU
I suspect the reason for Burgundy was simply one of costs - as it just makes sense to buy in bulk, EU wide (there are only a very few manufacturers of passports, and likely that the new one will be manufactured overseas anyway)

Yup, that's the kind of utterly ridiculous motivation that got us into this mess. Stupid thing is if these people were that "proud to be British" then nothing the EU could do would take that national identity away from them.

but is does highlight an important point - so many of those "rules" the EU "forced" on us are simply the result of UN based international agreements/treaties anyway
this will not change when we leave the EU - unless we go full North Korea and really regain our "sovereignty"

Prior to the early 1900's very few people moved to a different country, unless you're talking about the world war or movement of criminals to other parts of the world. Doubt a soldier needed a passport to fight in France.
Unless you're talking about the Irish and the mass emigration due to the potato famine?

Yes, because my identity is solely based on my passport, in particular the colour of it!
What a great victory for Brexit this is! We've ****ed the country up, ruined the economy and all going to be poorer, but at least we'll have a blue passport with a couple of words removed!

Bit of an empty win given that the colour of the passport is not an EU requirement, so they could have changed it anyway and never needed to change the colour in the first place! But still, is the first time so far the Brexiteers have actually got something they voted for in the whole Brexit process so enjoy your new irrelevantly coloured passports

You clearly have a funny idea of what “arguing” means. You might want to go look it up, although dictionaries are written by experts and we all know how you feel about those.

Seems to be, that people don't give a monkeys about the colour and doesn't represent a national symbol. So why all the vitriol over something that doesn't mean anything. Or is it that it just winds up remoamers, that leaving the EU is really happening and the new passport is actually minor but very much significant.

Using your logic, if The Guardian reported a ship sinking, it couldn't have happened.
As for you not caring, that is up to you, but are you seriously saying you don't care if the economy tanked just so we could leave the EU? If so, then you are even more stupid than I thought. I didn't actually think that was possible, but you never cease to showcase your stupidity. It's some talent, I have to say.

I've never seen a passport as a national symbol, its merely an official document that allows me to travel to other countries. What it looks like is of no significance to me!

Doesn't wind us up, we just find it hilarious that the colour of a passport is so important to Brexiteers, particularly when it could have been that colour all along
