I've spent over a quarter of the last year working out of Virginia and the result today is not in the least bit surprising. All I have seen from the British press is the demonising of Trump and the beautification of Clinton and very little substantial fact that I've seen in the US press that has dealt with the real issues.


Trump is far from ideal but he touched many points that drew in the silent masses that have been marginalised under so-called progressive left-leaning government.


The real problem now is that there is no balance with the Republican party controlling the Presidency, the Senate and Congress.

I doubt very much will change outside of the US. If anything, it will probably improve relations with the West and Russia which would certainly be a good thing, and America is now likely to interfere less with the rest of the world which may actually boost their popularity internationaly! Whilst it is another victory for populist politics, I think that is where the similarity to Brexit ends! Brexit was a much bigger f**k up with longer lasting consequences - There will be another presidential election in 4 years, we're stuck with Brexit a lot longer than that!

Well he's won the presidential race, we should give him the benefit of doubt, it's all we can do in reality. Hopefully much of his rhetoric, engineered by his campaign organisers and advisers to "engage" a vast non-college educated blue collar demographic, will not come to some sort of fruition. As reality sets in that he will be stepping into the role as commander and chief, it will temper his idealism with realism with what lies a head surround by many experienced political advisers. Let's not write off the whole world just yet, at least give him a chance to set foot into the White House!!
