I can't say I'm particularly worried about this. In fact because of Brexit, which I thought was a bad idea, a Trump presidency may not be such a bad thing for UK Plc. Maybe two wrongs can make a right. A bunch of idiots voted that we leave the E.U. and another bunch of idiots voted in Trump. I think their choice was easier and almost more predictable as Clinton was such an unappealing alternative; the last few days with her dragging her lapdog Bill around and smarming up to all the celebs with that cheesy grin permanently plastered on her face was cringeworthy in the extreme.
When Obama arrived the best part of a decade ago (When the Yanks probably thought they were electing Dennis Haysbert from '24') it was supposedly a 'wow' event, the U.S.'s first black president. He's been all mouth and no trousers and next to sod-all is any different, so perhaps he has killed the dream/fantasy and they get a dose of Brexit2 instead.
Bearing in mind so much is promised and near enough nothing delivered when it comes to elections, the fact his promises have been so extreme means there is a fair chance of part-delivery on many of them. It isn't a dictatorship so the likelyhood is nothing too crazy (an actual wall paid for by Mexico for example) will ever happen. Watered down, many of the things he promised should be an interesting ride for 4 years.

 

Will he now publish his Tax Returns as promised ??

Can't imagine why you would bother to do that but good luck to you if you've got nothing better to do.

I voted not for Brexit but for remaining as part of the EU, but I know there is absolutely nothing I can do about the result. However, I can maintain a positive attitude and avoid spreading your brand of negativity that serves no purpose other than to dispirit people. At least you can start knocking the USA now.

'Brexit means something' is probably more accurate. Certainly a symbolic distancing from a unified Europe almost instantly.
Obama had suggested we weren't at the head of any queue.
Theresa May needs to get her **** in gear now. Her and Putin are well placed to have profitable discussions with Trump.
I expect relations with the Eurozone to stagnate somewhat.
Trump wasn't a politician, he is a pragmatist.

 

His interaction/association with Farage demonstrates that he is receptive to our current position. And referring to Brexit himself.

Can't say I'm surprised at the result, but Trump is essentially a product of overly liberal policies and pushing conservative views underground. There's a shrinking middle class in the US mirroring many Western countries, and these people are being ignored by mainstream politics.

This is just the beginning of the populist movement. Think Le Pen in France, Gert Wilders in Holland, 5 Star Movement in Italy and maybe AfD in Germany.

At the end of the day Trump has been democratically elected, so the liberals who are generally intolerant to anyone who doesn't agree with their views should accept the democratic vote with some dignity and give him a chance to prove the doubters wrong.

These liberals have ultimately created a situation whereby the voters you describe now form part of the same voting demographic as the extremists. And those same liberals were still shouting "Misogynists, Anti-semites, Racists, Homophobes etc" at the voters that didn't share their views right till the end. That was never going to work, only firming up the resolve of those disenfranchised voters.

Even Clinton won the popular vote, so like Brexit I wouldn't be making sweeping comments about how democracy has spoken and those who lost should suck it up. It was too close for that. But a result is a result. The smugness in either case is idiotic.

For those saying it was an obvious result to happen, no one here really expected this would actually happen. Well, not many people at all. The uneducated/dumb white vote really came through for Trump.

Amazingly, in Florida it was a 52% or something female vote....seriously!!! Most of the Texans in my office were shocked by this and Texas is a Red State!

I just hope Trump does well. I'd sooner he surprised me than for those of us who hate him to be proved right!!
