Yes mate, affected cars from 2008-2011 iirc even the 1.8 I think.
Was on watchdog after I'd got mine done

There is a similar piston issue with Nissan's early 1.2 dig-t engine which I've found out whilst I've been having my own problems. They burn oil due to the incorrect piston size and Nissan is telling people that a remap will sort the problem! I have actually heard this first hand whilst I was waiting for my car. An old fella with a Nissan Juke was asking a women on the service desk where all the oil goes and she turned around and told him it should be ok now that it's been "reprogrammed"

Some of the bull dealers try and tell nonsavvy customers is unbelievable. Whilst I was working away my wife took the car in and a manager told her that it's quite usual for new cars to comeback after a month or so to have things tightened up...

Whilst my car was in having the timing chain issue sorted a woman posted a video on the Qashqai forum of her engine rattling worse than mine was. A week or so later she updated the thread saying she had just got the car back from Nissan and it's been fixed with a remap!

The Audi issue was same, either bored block too big or small piston, essesive oil usage was the symptom to the point on a litre in 200miles.
My Audi was not under warranty, about 4 years old and full dealer history, the previous owner got mugged off, I did extensive research into the issue and chose the dealer wisely, I have a dealer near me, but I went to Huddersfield as by doing research they have a fantastic review with folk ordering their cars from there all the way from London etc due to their reputation.
Other Audi dealers when I researched the issues were making people pay a percentage of costs towards work and then only repairing the issue.
Me, I got a fresh block fitted for zero pence and from start to finish it was a pleasurable experience (this is how dealers should operate IMO) she was more bothered about me letting Audi uk know how they dealt with it and me as a customer when I had my follow up call. They must get deals with Audi uk on selling cars or something.......?
She said the cost would of been about 10k for parts and labour time lol.
Approx 20k miles later and my car still runs like a dream, remapped it aswell as you do.
There is a lot of idiot Audi dealers about though. Guess my research payed off.

Erm erm , I'll speak to manager in morning was what I got, called next day to say we are going to fix car free of charge.
Audi q3 as a courtesy car as I have a child seat and said, don't give me the bloody A1 as daughter has litterly no leg room when in child seat

The car went back to the dealers today for them to check out the creaking noise which they never looked at last time it was in.

Apparently, it now needs a new axle!

I nearly bought a Nissan a couple of months back until reading similar nonsense as this. The stories regarding VW doesn't surprise me either. I ended up with a Honda which works and drives beautifully. In this day and age the driving experience is only as good as the reliability and customer service permits which is why I have left German cars alone this time round and chosen the Honda.

That is madness, surely the sensible thing to do is just replace the bloody car.
I don't know how much labour is an axle replacement going to be, but I think it has to be a lot, plus more warranty problems will occur as a result.

I'm waiting for a phone call today to see what can be done in regards to trading the car back in, obviously I'm expecting them to try and pull my pants down.

The real madness is that all the problems have happenend within 2000 miles from new.

One of the reasons I got rid of my last 1.8 TFSi powered Audi was because it was burning 1ltr of oil every ~1200miles and they wouldn't do f'all about it - said it was within tolerances and normal, which I think it was, but that was also the final straw.

There has been "some" development..

Firstly.....I did get a call back with an "offer" of trading the car in for another new one. It would be the same model but with the 1.6dig-t engine instead of the 1.2dig-t engine......They want £2k down and an extra £70 a month over 3 years!...I politely declined their offer.!

So my wife and I took to social media to air our grievance because we were getting nowhere.

My wife left a review on the dealers facebook page basically slating the car and their aftersales and I left a comment on a Nissan UK's page.

The next day I had a call from Nissan customer services but at MD level this time and also a call from a guy who handles social media for the dealers.....I told them both what has been happening and how I want to reject the car etc etc. Now I'm just playing a waiting game for the right people to call me. I'll give them until the middle of the week before I start all over again.

In the meantime, I had a call from the dealers today wanting to book the car in for it's new axle. They want it for two days next month.

Yeah I think they give it until 600 miles before they actual be of concern lol.
But honestly now my engine has been sweet ever since I actually like the engine and drive as a complete package for a family car, practical and can wallop a few cars since it's map and the handling is awesome for a big car. Very good Quattro systems on these.


Hahaha Allan, that will wake them up a bit, it think it's the dealers that are crap and giving Nissan a bad name, now the at a higher level of main guys are involved now, hopefully they will sort things now to please you.
That won't have been good seeing it on their pages lol.

Had a call from Nissan today, they have finally agreed to reject the car! I've no idea what happens now but hopefully it will be sorted before it goes in for its new axle in 2 weeks.

When I was dealing with VW over my GTI gearbox issues, I was getting no where. I wrote to Germany head office, and all they did was refer the letter back to the uk. Just didn't care. Even the threat of writing to Watchdog got me nowhere.

Ford on the other hand. Many years before when I bought a brand new MK1 Focus RS. I was getting water ingress in the footwell every time it rained. Long story short. After getting nowhere with the main dealer, I wrote to Ford UK. Car was picked up by trailer, shipped to their specialist dealer, where windscreen, seals, and other items were all replaced. New carpets throughout, and they even sorted out the car park ding on my passenger door. Few months later they phoned up after I'd booked the car in for a service, to inform me that the service would be free of charge.

No I wont be buying another Nissan! Funnily enough, up until now the worst car I've owned was also a Nissan....A Pulsar GTI-r!

Once the car goes back next week the wife by be driving our son's lowered Seat Leon until after Christmas, which will be fun for her...
