If its a proper importer they normally certify the kilometers from Japan, typically they also come with Odometer verification, so if you do discover it has been clocked you have some recourse, it says if this is incorrect that the BIMTA will buy it back, this is for the life of the vehicle.

Brother had exactly the same model from Japan, very similar to a standard Bug Sti other than the roof scoop and prodrive bumpers and rumoured to have forged internals. His had white STi logos on the fog lights but no Subaru letters on the back, just the small WRX and STi badges in the bottom corners of the boot lid.
Full Fujitsobo turbo back system, K&N filter and a Walbro 255 pump, a Race Dynamix Remap and healthy 330ish bhp.
I'd say that if the pressure is literally shooting from one end of the scale to the other at random intervals it is the gauge or sender, if it varies considerably when under load or on boost then it's worth further investigation by buying.
I have some photos somewhere, I'll try and find some

Well I've been and had a look and left without even offering £6k, in fact I wouldn't have paid any more than 4K for it.
The car itself although clean and shiny in the sun had qyite a few little scuffs, a ding on the wing and some big road rash up the front and sills.
Oil pressure dial all over the place and wheels needed refurb and the shut line on the boot was at a funny angle, other than that looked OK.....lol
However the real horror was the paperwork trail, or lack of?
The only import papers were the Vat exception certificate dated September 2007, then the V5 showing 1st UK registration 2012. ??????
Upon asking where it was and what it was doing for the 1st five years in the UK well no idea, apparently Subarus are a nightmare to get registered because of crash test issue, 1st I've heard of that, I thought SVA test and away you go, anyway 1st service 2014, had a cam belt done but also noted the shocks had play in, two further services but the shocks still not sorted.
All in all not for me.
