I have taken the preload off all four corners, the springs can are tight enough that they cant be moved up and down by hand but can turn slightly, this has made a massive difference to the ride.

I would say it has improved by 75%. One of the locking rings at the rear is still stuck despite using a two different pipe wrenches, but I will Dremel the rings off and fit new ones at a later date.
