Using your subaru as a second / weekend car?
Over what period of time is this over?
i run a 1.2 C1 citreon lease car, £600 first payment followed by 17 of £52,
£30 to fill and 250 miles driven like a rental car should be.
Both my cars are insured on company policy Insurance is £450 for the year. for any car, but scoob has age limit of 25,.
Consider the scoob is £60 to fill and lucky to see 150 to a tank is driven properly.

Just after some advice.
I'm sure some of you do use your Subaru as a second / weekend car.
Currently my Subaru is my daily driver. My hope / plan is to get a cheap run about that I can use daily as my commute to work is pretty long.
How do you go about insuring a second car though? My insurance does cover me to drive other peoples cars 3rd party so I suppose there's nothing stopping me putting the car into someone else's name and getting them to insure it.
Thanks,
Matt.

But they are insured with two separate companies due to the deals at the time.

Your insurance policy doesn't state that it is illegal to misrepresent who is the main driver of the car?
When you complete the quote, it is going to ask you who is the main driver of the car, to which you are going to put "the policy holder", yes? When it is in fact going to be you.
Why spend money fraudulently acquiring worthless motor insurance, when you could just not bother

Many new young drivers are insured as additional on daddies policy when in fact they are the main driver, big fat FO when it goes wrong.
What I want to know is with which company is Smurfybhoy leasing a C1 at £52 a month over 18 months with only a £600 deposit. I had a look today and can't find any lease deals even remotely this cheap. Come on, Bhoy!
like most things the best deals are not on the website,
i asked them what cars they wanted rid of basically
However I think what people are saying (and im not advocating this btw) is that insuring the car so they wont get pulled (while not declaring mods, points, annual mileage, where the car is stored) does actually work, at least until you actually are involved in a crash that is.
So its just the risk of saving (albeit quite a lot) on ur car insurance vs probably having no insurance if you crash.
just my two cents

Looking back I think I did this too (10 years ago!)

Mine only gets used occasionally , done 900 miles since its last mot in sept have a company van that I use a lot and the missus has a A3 black edition diesel which is normally what gets used if we go any distance......slightly more comfy than the Impreza and its coilovers
Managed to get 45 mpg out of my 1.6 Focus the other day when I went to Leeds and back to pick up some new wings (yey no more rust!).
Thats nearly 4x what i normally get out of the Scoob . I have a heavy right foot in that car.

Talk to Keith Michaels and explain what you want to do and they can probably sort out policies on both cars for you, only limiting factor may be your age. My Scoob is on a specialist second car policy, all mods declared, SDP and Commuting and the option of track day cover if required for under £400 a year. Passat daily is just on a standard policy from one of the comparison sites.
All I will say about having the Scoob as a second car is invest in a trickle charger for the battery, you'll soon get fed up of jump starting it when you haven't used it for a week or two.

keith michaels wont cover N.Ireland.
as for running 2 cars. my hatch is my daily and i have the wee mk2 golf 16v - i can never be bothered with getting it out the garage most of the times so sometimes i wonder what is the point of having 2 cars!
