I think he just got lazy or complacent to be honest, he stopped using the jab to get inside and by the late 90's the duck and weave was almost non existent. Some people blame a knee problem that meant Tyson couldn't duck low and twist his body to help those power shots. TBH the most mobile I saw Tyson was in the 1st round v Etienne right at the end of his career. I guess it was only Tyson's will that changed, his only fights of note in his prime of 1985-88 were against Berbick, Spink and Holmes, all way past their best imo.
That said in Lennox Lewis prime his lauded opponents in Tyson, Klitschko, Bruno, Tua, Botha, McCall and Holyfield could all be regarded as past their prime. Lewis before his prime did beat Bruno, Mercer, Briggs, Galota, Morrison, Tucker and Rudduck, kinda fighters that might not have been matched with Mike before he became Champion as to not risk his chances for a title fight.
I suppose Ali is the only man to have beaten true greats who were around their prime.

All opinions are subjective though jayallen. Tyson didn't start his career as a boxer as a bum, but probably ended up one due to drink etc etc. Most boxers have chequered careers which is usually why they start boxing in the first place. In a different weight division Mayweather is a fantastic boxer but quite an r sole as a person, lmho. For me Ali was personallity, entertainment and a very good boxer, like many others over the years, l just enjoyed watching him more than the others.

Do you think the Lewis denial comes from the fact he was arrogant, quite static in style or that he wasn't tied to any one Nation in particular?
