Had a change of plan on the block to usd for the build, I've currently got a EJ207 block split reach for machining. Then this came up at a price I couldn't refuse!
EJ20 CDB it is then

Yeah, but I'm 99.9% certain it's got the 7 designation, too. (And the MY99/00 non-STi cars have the EJ205, as well).

GC8's only ever came as std with an Open deck block apart from the very early variants that had the Closed blocks..........
all late classics are ODB regradless of Uk, WRX or STi

Yeah, I was aware of the MY93-96 being CDB and the MY97/98 an ODB ... But always thought that the MY99/00 EJ207 was SCDB (like in the New Age cars).
Ho hum, everyday is a learning day - cheers Alyn.

Just spent my morning reading this... ****!
A few quick questions if you dont mind -
Have you got a part number for those fog lamp covers?
What made you choose the pink stars instead of the pink 'i' badge? (i have the pink i but no idea what it means)
How much did you pay for the defi setup? i have the exact same and could be looking to sell it to secure up some funds to remove the rust >.<

I paid around £500 for the defi set up, although its going to be tricky fitting them as they're 60mm.
Glad you enjoyed the read.

Finally got chance to strip my CDB, unfortunately one of the casing bolts has badly rounded, so I’ve only just got this far until I can spend a bit more time on it.
I had a rounded bolt inside a block, I got it out using one of these...

Got the block completely stripped a while ago, forgot to add these pics of the big ends
The block is ready to be shipped away to have the following carried out.
Overbore to 92.5mm
Rear thrust conversion
Block decked
14mm head stud machining
Soda blasting
I’ve also placed an order for some rather tasty parts, I should have them by the end of this week. Pics to follow.
