TDW might not be one but this just happens to be typical of how Trump supporters react to any criticism of him - he does something insane/incorrect/wrong/makes a weird statement -> Trump supporter comes up with a completely unrelated stat/fact or criticism of Clinton/Obama.

BUT, EMAILS!!!!!!

Wrong. It has the fourth highest per capita of Muslim population (source here).

Measured by the same formula, Ireland and the Maldives both have nearly identical rates of ISIS recruitment, so are we saying they're hotbeds of militant Islamic extremism too?

Well doh, I know full well they're not. If you'd been @rsed to do your own research instead of blindly regurgitating whatever stat you saw or heard on whatever paranoid alt-right website you picked it up on, you'd already know that per capita, Sweden doesn't even feature in the top 10 countries for ISIS recruitment. You'd also know that I was in fact cutting you some slack when I conceded in advance that they're fourth per capita of Muslim population

It's the 4th out of European countries, and besides the Irish total of 30 fighters is statistically too small to draw conclusions about.

My point was to challenge dpd who held up Sweden as some model for integration.

LOLOL, that's so straight out of the Trump playbook it's almost too perfect. "Don't judge me on what I actually said, judge me on how some of it might be vaguely true if you jumble enough of the words up into the right order and repeat it 3 weeks later when the topic of conversation is something completely different".

Nice try, but I don't think even Trumpy would be dumb enough to fall for that one.

Dumb enough for what? Hold Sweden up for being a model of integration whilst being 4th biggest ISIS supplier?

As you put it so eloquently yourself, those figures are NOT per capita.

but surely that IS an indication of good integration; its got to be easier to recruit when the recruiters are already a part of that society?

I'm no fan of Trump, however....

I applaud his action against Assad. The message should go out loud and clear that if he uses chemical weapons again, HE and his regime will pay a terrible price.

Well done the US

Russia has already said they can't do anything about it. Only option would be try and take out some US forces, and they arn't gonna risk a full open war they can't win.

I completely agree. I can't stand Trump but in this instance this is the first thing he has got right.

Someone needed to have the ***** to stand up to Assad and Putin and he has done with decisive action that says if you continue there will be more to come.

Absolutely.

Trump has taken a humane step, with his spontaneity and simplicity; as opposed to all that complexity, worldly knowledge and 'think twice before you make your move' experience that Obama, Clinton types held their heads high with. I'm quite a fan of simplicity; all the faults of Trump aside. All those faults can simply be there due to his simplicity. This latest action by him makes me think of him differently. Let's see how it all progresses, and what else gets done.

A lot is being discussed on FB. Many people are calling it a 'blood-for-blood' bloody step, causing more killing of innocent people. I get that sometimes, there's no other alternative.

Let's see how Mister Putin kicks off now, and what his next move will be.

I don't see anything wrong at all with taking out runways that could even possibly have been used for this kind of attack

The irony here is Obama got Nobel peace prize and allowed atrocities like this to happen by being totally non-comitting on the subject.
Yet Trump takes action and will probably never even be considered. (Not that it bothers me, but it makes it more poignant that Obama was never deserving of one).

Scoobynet in agreement

Done the right thing imo. By targeting a single airfield, he's made a clear point.
