Trump

A friend of mine just posted this:

It's just occurred to me that Donald Trump is America's version of Jeremy Clarkson. He is very wealthy, a very successful TV star, is very good at speaking to people who otherwise feel unheard, but is casually xenophobic and chauvinist, has a nasty temper and no experience of government - fairly harmless in a reality TV star and a big part of his appeal, but when some Brits say "Jeremy Clarkson for Prime Minister," everyone understands that it's a joke.

The party that previously gave us Abraham Lincoln is about to name the American Clarkson as it's candidate for the highest office in the US. Al Qaeda couldn't do that much damage to America. - John Orchard
Good call, I thought, particularly the comparison with Lincoln. :(

Carson doesnt think hes quite so bad after all :Suspiciou

Paben 11 March 2016 12:18 PM

Not surprising that so many Americans when appearing on UK television feel obliged to apologise for Trump.

Face it; any country thick enough to elect an out-of-work, second rate B film actor, twice, laud him, then allow Dubya to nick the election with dodgy votes, twice, will elect anyone.:lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:

I thought you and Trump had a great deal in common, Jeff.

alcazar 11 March 2016 03:06 PM

Moi?

I don't have his hair, money, age, background etc, and I don't play golf.

Whatever do you mean?

alcazar 11 March 2016 03:06 PM

On that note, mind, I'd prefer him to Hilary.

She has somehow amassed a fortune of $45 MILLION in public office........

MUST be honest, then.

hodgy0_2 11 March 2016 03:32 PM

it would be fun though,

and we could view it as a trial run in case we ever wanted Katie Hopkins to run for Queen

There's a dark part of my psyche that wants Trump to win. It'd be epic schadenfreude.

I'm off to pray now.

hodgy0_2 11 March 2016 04:02 PM

oh yeah, me to

I posted as much about the last Presidential election too

Paben 11 March 2016 05:58 PM

There were bets being taken that Obama wouldn't survive until Christmas when he first became President. Similar bets for Trump I expect although a different group might be responsible for dropping him!

dpb 11 March 2016 06:32 PM

What I wonder at is, who is going to surround him if he makes it to the white house and just how that relationship would work - I'm sort of imagining hes the sort that doesn't like delegating

madscoob 11 March 2016 06:42 PM

if and its a big IF he gets in, we at work are having £50 on him to be bumped off within 12 months, :thumb:

dpb 11 March 2016 06:48 PM

Do you know how hard it would be to bump off a president these days ?

yep just a bit harder than it was to do kennedy, it would be a inside job anyhow, then blame it on a muslim and up the anti a bit more, bit like 911

stevebt 11 March 2016 07:00 PM

Donald Trump is Americas version of Nigel Farage and look how well he did. He didn't win his party many seats but took over 8million votes from other UK parties. The things he says joe blogs agrees with.

Nigel Farage?

I fear you are simply labeling, again.

Farage's party stands for OUT OF EUROPE, that's all. UKIP...what part of "Independence" don't you get?

Yes, he certainly appeals to the same demographic - white under educated working class

In a way a symptom of the failure of modern economics to deliver any progress to the people who hold the sh1tty end of the stick

A protest vote that simply wants to stick it to the political class

It is a mirage off course

alcazar 12 March 2016 05:20 PM

Deary me, why can you left wingers not hold an argument without resorting to abuse?

stevebt 13 March 2016 07:37 PM

Numbskull isn't abuse, it's a term that can be said in many ways to people with no offence meant but obviously you don't think that way. Your post was more abusive than mine :)

alcazar 13 March 2016 09:30 PM

Seriously?

And I thought you were educated?
