I wouldn't call one mention on a thread about the Matrix "Doing Plato" your scholar mates in the cave would proper pour scorn on you for that description.
And we digress, I was more aiming towards his connection with the formation of modern christian beliefs, Platonism, neoplatonism.

That sums up a hell of a lot of my thoughts on the subject to be honest. The false confidence of the educated is something I find deeply irritating. It's been a long standing argument at work, a lot of our graduates think they're all that because they have degrees when in reality the apprentices are far better technicians/engineers.
There is a key element to my post that's missing and for which Spurgeon would issue a swift rebuke and that is that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Acknowledging this, like acknowledging one's sin, can prove tremendously difficult for those who wish to be their own god.

I have never read so much bull$h!t in my entire life. This has to be the most stupid, boring, cringe-worthy thread in the history of the internet. I'd rather read Martin2005, dpb, jonc, and neil-h debating immigration; THAT's how boring this thread is! Regarding intelligence, there is a distinct lack of it being demonstrated herein.
Has Ditch's account been hacked? He's not sounding like his normal self!
Unfortunately, JTaylor is sounding exactly like his normal self, ie. anything but normal!
This thread - like all his pointless, moronic, Christianity-related threads - is an insult to snet. BAN THIS NUTTER, MODS!!!

+1.
I can't see any relevance of Platonism and Neoplatonism and its influence on Christianity to the presenter's (on this thread) perception of faith. What exactly is being proposed with the mention of such? How can such mention bring the faith follower down to the no God's earth?? I mean, What the f**k, man! What's going on???
I think Ditch has been in a hardcore schmoke sash all day, and he's the one jammin' with the fairies. I mean, what happened to that 'fire for fire', eh?

What is that ^ supposed to mean?? You haven't had that ultimate experience of God that leaves you dumbfounded and lost for any words to utter whatsoever, come on. So, why just smile> ? Why not explain what you quote and talk about? Why leave it like that as something copied and pasted from the good old Google, eh? You don't like James's C&P from Google but at least he's able to support his brainwashed state and the product of such with his Biblical C&P, let's face it. Why don't you support your Google findings with your 'Levis original' thoughts, Ditch?

There's a big smile but vacant eyes and I imagine there's little going on behind them. Constantly using big words and then denying the ability to explain them can mean just one thing: he should have joined the military!

But the problem is it is debunked by a simple cartoon
The Cartoons title simply says "no miracles in science"
You see a little before your post the thread was developing into a discussion about the differences between knowledge and wisdom - framed by twin themes of "education" & empirical experience (I.e classroom knowledge versus real world experience)
The science of knowledge if you will
But you simply say (I understand you have no real choice, so in a way not actually a criticism, just an observation) "you can't be truly wise without a fear of God"
But the cartoon simply demolishes that position so beautifully
I get the same when debating 911, illumanti or AGW - ultimately their backstop postion is "it's a conspiracy" or in religious terms "a miracle occurs"
I do admit to finding it all fascinating

Yes, I have listened to that - it has a nice soothing rhythm to it

Scientism doesn't possess the language to battle the above. It takes passion, it takes love, it takes conviction, it takes heart, it takes courage and it takes the will of God to conquer a world in which men would rather be given hand relief than hear the word of the Lord. Spiritual warfare is afoot and the souls of men are at stake; they won't be won over by espousing a material and reductionist and soulless mantra of an indifferent universe. The poor and the downtrodden and the sexually immoral need salvation in Christ, not what you offer. You give the world to your family and I respect that, but there are valleys in South Wales that are so devoid of love that there is a market place for the kind of family wrecking filth that the picture above advertises. Don't work against Jesus, Hodgy, he came for the sick.

Do you know that outside our church they're building a brothel:

That said, I would also add that I'm firmly of the belief that new (and absurdly unrealistic) societal norms and expectations about relationships are at least as much to blame for the apparent banalization of the sex industry, as any actual deterioration in moral standards.
