Just for the doubters.

Having looked again I can maybe do another 6 pairs but we're getting into the slightly dodgy choices.
So do you think I have a problem.

I was there in my new walking shoes, see!^

FAO Ditch,

If it’s your lost glove from your last visit to North Wales, let me know. I’ll pick it up tomorrow and post it to you, mate

Last time I was in Wales over the summer it did nothing but rain, ended up packing the tent up and going home after 4 nights there's only so much rain I can cope with and most of what we had was sopping wet, still managed to go body boarding in white sands bay and went out to the head and caught a rake of mackerell, half of which I gave away to fellow campers, shame really as the fish were really biting, could of pulled in loads but I couldn't justify catching them to go to waste, my boy caught a few too for the first time which was great to watch his face light up.

Just for the record, I don't really go by name and price, I judge on quality, fit, feel and look, it's nice when they're cheap though as I usually have the knack of going for the most expensive things in the shop I have 3 pairs of Karrimor (2 the same) which are very cheap and can be a bit hit and miss but the ones I have are pretty good, so much so I bought an identical 2nd pair, something I have learned over the years, because by the time the good ones wear out they don't make them any more or change them in some way, which seems a bit daft to me, if you have a good product why change it
but I guess that's fashion.

You need to come to my bit of North Wales next time, Ditch. I'll take you and your family out to some stunning locations, if I'm around that time.

I know what you mean. People are plurally ignorant when they pay over the odds for the high rated brand, despite the quality being as good as the low rated one. I was looking at Thomas Sabo jewellery the other day. Not that they are selling genuine gold and jewels, but for the moulded innovative design, some tat they're selling is a fortune! I don't fall for gimmicks like that. All that glitters isn't essentially gold.

I like your funky shoes collection. Good to have a passion for things in life. Without that, life could be quite boring. Well, unless you become a Buddhist monk and don't care two hoots about any materials. Saying that, I'm a Buddhist monk, just not an extreme one. That lack of extremity with detatchment itself is quite Buddhist, if you think about it. Therefore, if you check out my hand bags, perfumes and scarves collection, you'll go . I've just bought a new pair of really funky boots. I'll post their pic later, if I fancy showing off again.

TBH, I don't have that many handbags. Only about 25, I think. Each of them is a nice looking and sturdy one. One of them is even a work of art. Not necessarily designers either. Designer accessories have become highly chavtasticated, which puts me off about them. Look at River Island. Almost every chav wears River Island and Armani now.

I have unnecessary number of shoes as well, but I get at ease with the pair that I start to wear and just run it down till its death. Other pairs just sit on the shelves and gather dust. I eventially end up donating them to the charity shops.

I love the way your mind works and the tangents it takes.

I'm not much of a materialist, which is how I ended up out here with no money and no job I just like nice things and footwear just happens to be one of the things I like, I also generally don't like to wear the same pair of shoes / trainers one day after another when I'm out and about, they're a bit like underpants and socks, they start to smell if you wear the same pair day in day out

There are other things I like to collect, all manner of tools being one of them, I also have a bit of a knife collection too, I have in the region of 20 out here and a few more back in the uk and a couple of swords, machette's although they're more for practical than just because they're nice, I like torches too although I don't have so many of those, I did used to have a bit of a shotgun collection too but sold them all as I'm no longer based in the UK and didn't want them in the house with me not being there, still got a few air guns though but they are with me here.

I also quite like going into antique shops and buying random old stuff, again just because it's nice, most recent being a poker for the fire and an old razor in a nice box.

I'm a bit of a hoarder and reading this post back, I'm starting to wonder about myself.

ditchmyster - you have some serious issues

Seriously though, thanks for the feedback, that's the sort of thing I was after. I have seen a few soloman shoes but reading reviews (I know, not always the best thing to do) people seemed to report they leaked quite easily so was a little put off and they are not the cheapest either but good to hear some honest opinions from someone who has, well, a 'few' different makes of shoe

Wouldn't mind some of these as they might be better to keep clean/cleaner than the mesh style ones - http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/salom...id_colour=5525 although typically they would be the most expensive....... so might keep an eye out if some come down in price at some point.

You have good taste they're the ones I'll be getting next, they're the same as my battered ones that have been caned to death, only leather.

To be fair the cloth version don't do too badly against a small amount of rain, but they are not up to a long march out in the wet, and like I said earlier I doubt you'll find many a shoe that are.

Re price you can find them for about a tenner cheaper on line but I'd advise you go try them on before you purchase as I think their sizing is a tad on the small side and you may need to go up a number, I'm usually a 43 but I'm 44 with these, and I always spray my leather boots/shoes with extra water proofer as soon as I get them, then the water just beads off.

Quite a good price here - http://www.milletsports.co.uk/more-s...FQaNGwod9ZcPJA

Although I'm normally a size 9 and they only have 8.5 or 10 so if they come up a bit on the small side a 10 might do me..... think I will get down to my local shop(s) to try some on

Actually edit that - it would seem most places seem to only have size 8.5 or 10??

Should it be of interest - Just found they do the black ones in all sizes but they are a bit more at £112 - http://www.milletsports.co.uk/more-s...es-grey-black/
